Planning a romantic holiday for your loved one? Check out these 5 destinations

A romantic trip just for two always sounds interesting. If both of you are frequent travellers, you might already have some ideas in mind about where you would like to go. But if you are looking for some inspirations, check out these 5 destinations. Their lovely natural surroundings make a great backdrop for a steaming holiday.

Mauritius

Mauritius is a heaven for beach lovers. This sun-kissed island nation is blessed with golden sunshine, pristine beaches and lush greenery year-round. Here, you will have endless days enjoying the waves, the sun and the sand. Besides lounging around the beach, you can also go snorkelling, diving or checking out neighbouring islets. Alternatively, Mauritius also offers some excellent hikes and adrenaline-pumping activities, so you and your loved ones will never be bored here. Don’t forget to stay in a Mauritius villa, where you can have a spacious, private holiday home for the two of you.

Kyoto, Japan

There are so many places that can be great for couples in Japan, especially when you go during sakura season, or autumn when the leaves change colours. For first-timers, I would highly suggest staying in Kyoto where you can easily enjoy both an urban escape and a traditional Japanese experience. The city center is modern and offers everything you would expect from a developed city. However, the ambience changes the moment you step into Gion, the Geisha district, where you will find a Kyoto steeped in history. You will find shops, teahouses and restaurants that still preserve the traditional architecture of olden days. You can easily find quaint, quiet corners as you stroll through the narrow roads. A memorable experience indeed.

Hakuba, Japan

Located in Nagano prefecture, Hakuba is a famous ski resort area perfect for a romantic winter getaway. During off-peak season, it’s pretty quiet, but when winter comes, the whole town becomes vibrant and filled with holiday vibes. You and your loved one can spend an entire day enjoying the soft, powdery snow, then come back to your resort or chalet and relax in the jacuzzi. If you are not a fan of winter holidays, fret not, Hakuba is charming and colourful in other seasons. There are plenty of scenic hikes around, and when you are tired, come to an onsen and let everything melt away.

New Zealand

What’s more romantic than a road trip for two in a fabulous destination like New Zealand? Wherever you go, you will be surrounded by majestic mountains, turquoise lakes and endless green meadows. Take a trip to Auckland Takapuna and experience some of their dining or beauty options. Or if you are a fan of The Lord of The Rings then check out the Hobbiton Movie Set. The North Island is also famous for its beaches, while the South offers more mountainous sceneries.

Fiordland National Park, Queenstown, Wanaka, Mount Cook, Hokitika Gorge are just some of the marvellous treasures here. You will have an unforgettable romantic trip amidst nature for sure!

Bali, Indonesia

Forget about the Bali Breakup Curse. The sheer number of weddings, romantic villas and activities here is enough to attest that Bali is a great destination for honeymoons and couple trips. The best part of this island is that small as it is, Bali boasts diverse natural wonders. If you love a vibrant holiday scene with plenty of beach clubs and bars, head to the South of the island where Seminyak, Kuta and Canggu are. On the other hand, Ubud is a great option if you want to have a more meditative, mindful trip, for Ubud is the cultural hub of Bali, and you can find plenty of yoga studios and retreat centers here. For a more authentic, local experience, head to the North or East of Bali. Regardless of where you go, there are plenty of activities catered specifically to couples!
