Guest Author, Cynthia Roberts & Wind Warrior & GIVEAWAY!
by sue on Jul.17, 2010, under Book Chat

Setting: Early 1800 ~ newly settled region of upstate New York
Subgenre: Historical Indian Romance
Hero: Winnokin
Heroine: Leslie Michaels
One sentence summary
A story of longing, a wanton need to survive all odds and a love so strong, that it conquers human evil.

Scene you like most and would never cut
Ouuu … this is really difficult to pinpoint because Wind Warrior is a story of survival. I would say at the moment where my heroine Leslie is forced to leave her home and father who was just killed by a demented trapper hell bent on kidnapping her for his own pleasures. She has truly only moments to decide her fate and chooses to flee into the wilderness to escape with only a knife and the clothes on her back. Faith and a strong will to survive are her only companions … that is, until she encounters Winnokin.
What celebrity is your hero like?
Definitely Michael Spears who played the role of Otter in Dances With Wolves and also recently in the lead role for TNT’s mini series In The West as Dog Star. Talk about strong, virile and handsome … this man could play lead in everything I write … a true hunk of burning love.
What celebrity is your heroine like?
If you’ve ever seen Farrah Fawcett in her Emmy Award performance of The Burning Bed depicting a battered wife, then this is my character Leslie with the same attributes: beauty, strength, resiliency and a strong will to survive.
What is your heroine’s occupation?
Leslie is a visionary and only those close to her know of her special gift and the visions that come when her mind and body surrender to sleep. Along with her father, Jebidiah they leave their Ohio home to discover a new territory with the hope of fresh start after tragically losing three family members within a few years of each other.
What is your hero’s occupation?
Winnokin is the handsome Seneca war chief who first comes to Leslie in her dreams. Not only does he prove to be her rescuer and protector after she flees into the wilderness, he teachers her that tragedy can breed happiness and the passion to live and love deeply once again.
What do you think readers will like best about this book?
First that it is inspiring. I think we all come to a point in our lives when you find yourself at the edge of a very deep, dark abyss that threatens to engulf you and steal away your sanity and resolve to fight. Fate has a way of righting many wrongs and for Leslie it is a destiny that changes her life dramatically. It is through this discovery that makes the reader fall in love with her. Wind Warrior will not only plunge them into the intimate depths of a relationship that unfolds like a live drama before their eyes but also places them in a world that portrays an insightful and intriguing portrait of Native Indian life.
What’s next?
Wind Warrior is Book #1 of my Iroquois Series (total of 5 books). You can read an excerpt on my website and also catch a glimpse of Book #2 Captive Heart as well at www.romanceauthorcynthiaroberts.com.
I’m just a diehard romantic and love to write in many genres. I also have two romantic suspense projects entitled Pawn For Malice and Keeper’s Watch and lastly, a contemporary Unchain My Heart in the works.
I would also like to extend my sincerest and heartfelt thanks to Susan Grimshaw and Borders for inviting me here today to share with you some enticing facts about Wind Warrior.
If you would like to win an autographed copy please take a moment and answer me this … if you could be swept away by a hero of your choice i.e. English knight, Indian warrior, Scottish lord, daring cowboy or someone else, who would it be and why?
One randomly chosen commenter will win — good luck!

I’d love to be swept off my feet by the hunky pool guy!

hmmm…I would have to go with a scotish Highlander because they are just hot! LOL I also adore kilts!!

I think I would have to go with Indian Warrior. They are a very noble race of people.

I would choose an Indian Warrior in a heartbeat. When I was a little girl we would always play Cowboys and Indians. When everyone else chose to be Cowboys, I would be ther only Indian. I always thought they were strong, honorable and handsone like Geronimo. Don’t get me wrong, I do love my Cowboys but I’d take me an Indian Chief any day!
July 17th, 2010 on 9:39 pm
Hrm… hard choice… either a cowboy or a space pirate for me. ^_^
Cowboys: They’ve got the hat, they’ve got the attitude, and they’ve got the lone gunman thing going on too. …Okay, okay, I’m a sucker for a good piece of horseflesh too…
Space Pirate: I loooove technology. Gimme a toilet over grassy plains any day. Swords are impressive, but laser guns are *freaking* awesome. A space pirate gets both. And last but not least: to steal spaceships, you gotta be technologically smart, and I loooove a geek brain, especially if said geek brain is attached to a bad attitude. Win-Win all around!

Your book sounds wonderful, Cynthia! I love Native American/western stories.
Hmm… A handsome Native American Warrior sure sounds like my idea of a hero to sweep me off my feet.
July 17th, 2010 on 7:29 pm
It sounds wonderful!
Hmm, well, lately I am intriqued with Paranormal (Nalini Signh, Kresley Cole), so I would take a Changeling, or someone with supernatural abilities. But Highland warrior were what got me into romance in the first place… as long as he is an alpha, I would be happy
July 17th, 2010 on 7:17 pm
I think I would have liked to be swept away by a cowboy. I think the cowboy has a wonderful mystique and most women like cowboys.
July 17th, 2010 on 6:17 pm
Cynthia, i forgot to let you know your book sounds great, very interesting cant wait to read it. Good luck on your new book
July 17th, 2010 on 6:13 pm
I would diffently pick a Indian Warrior! oh yea baby! I think its because the intense, physical love they would have for their mate or love. They would make sure you were safe, happy and loved..always!
July 17th, 2010 on 5:14 pm
Give me a cowboy any day! Hard working, polite and gentle—need I say more?
July 17th, 2010 on 5:06 pm
I’d choose the cowboy just because I haven’t read much about them!
July 17th, 2010 on 4:16 pm
Hi! Great cover!
What, you expect me to decide? Perhaps a Scottish Highlander but he’s going to accept living in CA because there’s no way I’m going to live in Scotland year round (too cold in the winter).
July 17th, 2010 on 4:10 pm
I would pick a Scottish Highlander too. They are so strong and loyal.
July 17th, 2010 on 3:04 pm
Ohh! A Scottish lord, most definitely! One who looks like Gerard Butler
July 17th, 2010 on 2:51 pm
A Scottish lord–I love the accent!
July 17th, 2010 on 2:35 pm
Well being from Texas, I lean toward the cowboys. I love a man that can ride a horse. Please include me in your giveaway.
Thanks

A Scottish Lord. I can’t help but melt when I read about a Highlander and read about the accent. Once I imagine that accent in my mind… Oh I’m smitten
July 17th, 2010 on 1:07 pm
I have been reading a lot of cowboy stories lately so I would pick a cowboy.
July 17th, 2010 on 12:54 pm
Your book sounds so interesting. I am always on the lookout for a new (to me) author. As for my favorite hero, it would have to be a cowboy; either historical or contemporary. I also like Highlanders in small doses. I haven’t read enough books with Indian heroes to form an opinion as to their warrior status. No Vampires or Desert Sheiks please!
July 17th, 2010 on 12:48 pm
It would be a cowboy and that’s probably because I’ve been reading so many stories about them. The are interesting characters.
July 17th, 2010 on 12:29 pm
English knight, Scottish lord or vampire king would be fine with me. A demi-god works too. I am not picky.
July 17th, 2010 on 12:01 pm
Oh, I really wanted to add how much I love your cover!
July 17th, 2010 on 12:00 pm
At first I would have said the Highland Warrior loving medieval tales but I decided I would rather live the Indian life - at least the peaceful Indian tribes - they had a lot to contribute to our society and we should have taken more from them than the Puritans.
July 17th, 2010 on 11:52 am
A Highland Lord for me please! The accent, strength, and castle…what is not to love?
July 17th, 2010 on 11:42 am
Oh, I canNOT choose. As long as he’s principled, passionate and lovely on the eyes. I’m sold!
July 17th, 2010 on 10:45 am
Lately for me it would have to be a cowboy! I have been in love with them for a while, don’t get me wrong I love highlanders too, but it just been cowboys lately!
July 17th, 2010 on 9:40 am
A desert Sheik
I think that they are very powerful men with the ability to love and to govern both their people and their country with honor and compassion.
I’d live in an exotic locale with a lot of tradition that my sheik would bring up to date in to today’s world.
As his chosen wife, I’d be revered and treasured by the man I love.
July 17th, 2010 on 8:47 am
A Scottish Highlander…Who can resist an alpha male with a brogue in a kilt?
July 17th, 2010 on 8:23 am
I would love to be swept away by any of those choices! If I had to pick one, I’d choose a Scottish Highlander. I’ve always had a weakness for a super sexy man in a kilt! I think I would “fit in” to life in the Scottish Highlands the best.
July 17th, 2010 on 8:04 am
Just give me a tall warrior with a big heart and I am good to go.
July 17th, 2010 on 6:38 am
It would definitely be a Scottish Highlander. My favorite reading genre is Scotland and those beautiful Highlanders. With a Highlander taking me away I’d be thrilled to know that such a protector would keep me safe. And his loyalty would be # 1. And please, let’s not forget that Kilt.

I always like the cowboy in contemporary stories. Not sure exactly why - I guess he brings in certain elements from the past, but in a contemporary setting.
July 17th, 2010 on 4:57 am
I have a soft spot for the Highland Warrior (especially after reading Outlander!) but any kind of warrior who’ll do anything for his love works pretty well for me!
Best wishes for your new book.
