Guest Blogger, Gaelen Foley & GIVEAWAY!
by sue on Jun.29, 2010, under Book Chat
Setting: Regency London; a “possibly” haunted castle in Cornwall; and a dash of high-seas adventure in an Undisclosed Location (If I told you, it would be a spoiler!)
Subgenre: Regency Historical Adventure
Hero: Rohan Kilburn, the Duke of Warrington, aka “The Beast”
Heroine: Kate Madsen…or IS that really her true name??? (Hmmmm…still no spoilers!!!)
One sentence summary: A defiant beauty abducted by cutthroats is given as a gift to a powerful, dark stranger…
Scene you like most and would never cut: Kate tries to escape the castle but Rohan’s men corner her on the edge of a Cornish sea-cliff. What happens next??? Those chalk cliffs on England’s coast are awfully fragile…but far be it from me to give spoilers!! *gg*
Thing your heroine would never be caught dead doing/saying: “I can’t.”
What celebrity is your hero like: Gerard Butler could play him…but we’d have to give him long hair.
What celebrity is your heroine like: Looks-wise, I’d say Megan Fox (sans the tattoos & her odd rude remarks).
What is your heroine’s occupation, or if unemployed, what should she be doing: As a pirate’s daughter, she would probably be a lady shipping magnate–gutsy, bossy, driven, and hard-working. But she also loves books, so maybe she’d have a job like yours, Sue! *g*
What is your hero’s occupation, or if unemployed, what should he be doing: He is a big, tough, scary duke with a bad attitude, but as a secret agent of “the Order” (SEE TRAILER) he is also the one tasked with the dirty work of killing bad guys. [In this series, Max is the slick team leader, Jordan is the oh-so-smooth code expert, and Rohan is the one you just don't mess with.]
What you think readers will like best about this book: Rohan! He is all alpha male. Also the adventure. If you want a summer beach book that truly takes you away, give it a try!
The person that readers want you to write about but you haven’t yet: From my previous series, The Knight Miscellany, the most requests I got were for the Hawkscliffe Harlot’s story. This was the (deceased) duchess mother of the Knight brothers, the woman who had all the flings with all her different lovers and thus had a bunch of different kids with all her various men. I said no to writing this because she dies in front of a French firing squad when she was caught rescuing aristocratic children from the guillotine mobs during the French Revolution. It was her favorite lover that dragged her into this adventure. This wouldn’t work for me because I do happy endings, period!
What’s next: Book 3 of the Inferno Club. This will be Jordan, Lord Falconridge’s story. As I mentioned above, he’s more the smooth, cool-nerved, elegant James Bond type than the rugged warrior Rohan. His book is going to be called MY IRRESISTIBLE EARL and it’ll be coming out in April 2011, so the Inferno Club saga continues!
MY DANGEROUS DUKE is a story where the hero is given a beautiful young woman as a gift…SO I think the obvious question for all my readers is, if someone were going to give YOU the gift of a hottie of the opposite sex, who would you want to be given, and what’s the first thing you’d make him do? Enjoy, ladies! *g* Sue, who would you go for? (Husbands and boyfriends don’t count!)
Readers are invited to read Chapter One of My Dangerous Duke on my website at www.gaelenfoley.com.
Also, I will give away one signed copy of My Wicked Marquess, Book 1 of the Inferno Club series. (My Dangerous Duke is Book 2.)

A couple of great review tidbits if these are useful:
4 ½ Stars, Top Pick for July! “This adventure romance sweeps readers into an unforgettable twist on the Beauty and the Beast theme.”
–Kathe Robin, RT Book Reviews
4 ½ Top Pick! “A fantastic entry in the Inferno Club series…Highly entertaining.”

I loved the first Inferno book & can’t wait to read the 2nd. I’d love to win it since I don’t think I bought the 1st one when I read it.
as for my gift, either Channing Tatum, Gerard Butler, or the guy who plays Jason Stackhouse on True Blood. All yummy. I’d probably make him take me to a nice dinner (gotta show him off) & then do something fun where he can show off his muscles.
July 4th, 2010 on 12:47 am
Congrats on your new release! My fav crushes would have to be Daniel Craig and Gerard Butler.
July 2nd, 2010 on 4:34 pm
I really like all of your books.
To be given a hero, wow, that would be wonderful. I think I would like to win a Ranger or a Morelli from one of Janet Evanovich’s books.
July 1st, 2010 on 3:33 pm
Clive Owen, oh yeah, I would love to unwrap that gift, your books sound wonderful, all the best for its release!
July 1st, 2010 on 10:34 am
I don’t have crushes but i told hubby once Sean Connery was good looking for an old guy and so now he teases me about that. LOL
June 30th, 2010 on 10:37 am

June 30th, 2010 on 10:33 am
I would pick Maks from Dancing with the Stars. I have always wanted to learn ballroom dance, and who better to teach me than a sexy Russian?
June 30th, 2010 on 9:51 am
I too would want Gerard Butler. He can call me lass and smile that sexy smile of his.
After that he must play me a song on the guitar. I saw him do that in the movie PS I Love You and all I could think was he must play ME a song (no shirt aloud).
June 30th, 2010 on 8:09 am
Welcome Galen! Rohan and his men sounds like they have their hands full with the gutsy, luscious Kate!
HOTTIE
I’d love to have sexy, Scott Ewan McGregor go on a picnic and sing for me! That delicious brogue! AHHHH!!
Loved him in Moulon Rouge and Star Wars.
June 30th, 2010 on 7:46 am
This question is a bit hard, I don’t really have any crushes but if I had to…I’d choose Daniel Day-Lewis from his Last of the Mohicans days. Even now he’s still sexy to me, must be the voice. I’d definitely just have him talk to me all day!
June 29th, 2010 on 11:25 pm
Any hot vampire would work for me. I would just ask that we be friends, as I have a wonderful husband already
A best friend vamp would ROCK though!
June 29th, 2010 on 10:59 pm

June 29th, 2010 on 9:29 pm
Gaelen, your books look wonderful! I am always looking for a new author. I’d love to win a copy.
June 29th, 2010 on 9:03 pm
Congratulations Gaelen on your new release and the great reviews it has received.
I would like the gift of Henry Cavill. What would we do? Oh, I would think of something.
June 29th, 2010 on 8:14 pm
Sean Connery! He could just talk to me and I’d be happy, I love that accent..
June 29th, 2010 on 7:58 pm
Hi Gaelen! Congratulations on your new release “My Dangerous Duke”. It sounds great and I can’t wait to read it. If I was ever given a choice of a hottie I would like either Johnny Depp or Hugh Jackman. I think Johnny Depp gets even better with age and Hugh Jackman really seems like a really nice guy that can do it all.
June 29th, 2010 on 7:16 pm
Congratulations on your new release Gaelen! I have been a fan for years and can’t wait for this one!! It sounds great.
June 29th, 2010 on 7:19 pm
I forgot!! I’d choose Alexander Skarsgård! And I’d want him to take me out to dinner and a movie.
June 29th, 2010 on 6:35 pm
I would want to be given Gerard Butler and the first think I would make him do is talk to me in his sexy accent! No way would I make him hide it like almost all of the movies do!
June 29th, 2010 on 4:37 pm
Hi Gaelen. Congratulations on your release and much success on your series. Dangerous Duke sounds so intriguing, can’t wait to read it. What a better way to be introduced to the series by winning the first one. Whoo hoo!!
I’d pick Clive Owen and he could give me a nice deep kiss to get things going. *wink*
June 29th, 2010 on 4:31 pm
If he were still with us, I would ask for Yul Brynner and make him read a dictionary. I loved his voice!
June 29th, 2010 on 3:57 pm
Gerard Butler. My love for him knows no bounds.
I would make him… give me a back massage. With no shirt on. *fangirl squee*
June 29th, 2010 on 3:40 pm
I would choose Jonathan Rhys Meyers, so hot! I would make him wear nothing but shorts while acting as my butler while I watch in contentment.
June 29th, 2010 on 4:38 pm
Awesome answer, LOL. That cracked me up. *g*
You guys are great!!!
June 29th, 2010 on 3:34 pm
oooh i don’t know who I’d pick~
June 29th, 2010 on 3:32 pm
Congrats on the release!!!
If I could pick anyone, I would pick Jaron Lowenstein of Jaron and the long road to love to play the piano, guitar, and sing to me and my friends in a mini concert. Maybe karaoke, because he seems like he’d be down for that. ^^
June 29th, 2010 on 3:24 pm
By the way, Taylor Lautner is Jacob in the Twilight movies. Yes, he’s a bit young, but so what?
Besides, at least he’s 18 now.
June 29th, 2010 on 4:38 pm
Right, you don’t wanna have legal issues or anything, ha ha.
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 1:46 pm
Last week when you were had us choose our stocking hottie each day, on another blog, I completely forgot about Jamie Durie from HGTV. He can be given to me any day! As for what he will do, well I am sure I can find tons of work around the yard but he must talk to me the whole time - I just love those accents.
June 29th, 2010 on 1:55 pm
Hi again, Melanie! Thanks for coming back. That was fun last week. I’m still chuckling over my agent’s “Man Harem.”
He’s an Aussie, right? What are they feeding those guys Downunder? They’re all ridiculously hot. LOL.
I’m just sayin’!
Gaelen, very glad we (the US) have Aussies as allies rather than enemies, would not want to tick them off, lol, those guys wrestle crocodiles for fun (Oh, come on, you know they ALL really do that in real life. Just kidding.)
PS–Where’s Anna Campbell (my fellow Avon Regency historical author with a July release) - she’s an Aussie, she could settle it for us if they all really beat up Great White Sharks in their spare time or could it be just a stereotype?? lol. Leave me my illusions!!! *g*
June 29th, 2010 on 1:34 pm
Congratulations on your new release! MDD sounds like a great story!
June 29th, 2010 on 1:43 pm
Thanks, Chey, and thanks for stopping by!

June 29th, 2010 on 1:01 pm
sounds fantastic! i haven’t read a galen foley book since the Knight Miscellany and i think i’m overdue.
June 29th, 2010 on 1:36 pm
Aw, thanks, Michelle! Like I was saying below, the Inferno Club series has got a different energy than the Knights, but you know, it’s not good for any author to write the same thing over and over again. That gets stale. So I’m keeping it fresh! *g*
BTW, you DO know you share a last name with my hero from PRINCESS (1999, book 2 of the Ascension Trilogy?)
That was Darius Santiago, possibly my most tortured hero of all and one of my own personal faves of all “my men.” LOL.
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 12:53 pm
I think I’d have Gerard Butler just sit and talk to me (at least for awhile, until I thought of some other things he could do).
My Dangerous Duke sounds like a fantastic story and I can’t wait to read it.
June 29th, 2010 on 1:32 pm
Thanks, Barbara! I hope you like it. That’s a cute picture of you with your nose tucked in a book.

Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 12:46 pm
I would want to be given Matthew Gray Gubler (Dr. Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds)
June 29th, 2010 on 1:43 pm
I have to try watching that sometime. I hear it’s good. Hm!
Thanks for stopping by for my Release Day jollification, I hope to get to the bookstore soon to stand and gaze at my book on the shelf with a big dopey smile!!!
Gaelen, who is physically incapable of leaving any bookstore empty-handed
June 29th, 2010 on 12:44 pm
Congrats on your new release! This sounds like a great series and I can’t wait to read it!
June 29th, 2010 on 1:37 pm
Many thanks, Quilt Lady!
Gaelen, who recently bought her first Janome and is just starting to learn how to sew!
June 29th, 2010 on 12:41 pm
congrats on the latest release.
I would still like Hugh Jackman as wolverine or Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow to come to my house. LOL
Got to love those two.
Larena
June 29th, 2010 on 1:31 pm
Thanks, Larena! Hugh or Johnny, Hugh or Johnny, these are the questions that plague women’s souls…
LOL

June 29th, 2010 on 4:30 pm
Much appreciated — we love our authors & readers!
Ladies — this is a must read author if you’ve not done so — all her books deliver a great romance.
I started with THE DUKE then LORD OF ICE & LORD OF FIRE, sigh http://www.borders.com/online/store/SearchResults?view=2&rpp=25&all_search=gaelen+foley&type=0&nav=0&simple=true
Will read Dangerous Duke this weekend.
June 29th, 2010 on 11:51 am
Oh, my goodness - that trailer gave me goosebumps!!! Sounds absolutely fantastic.
June 29th, 2010 on 11:59 am
Oh, thank you! We worked hard on that. glad you like it!
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 11:01 am
I would have to pick Alex O’Loughlin. He’s the guy from “Moonlight”. He is really hot. I would like him to take me to dinner and a movie.
June 29th, 2010 on 12:06 pm
I can’t wait for the next movie of that! Yum. Those are well done. I haven’t read the books, though. I sort of like paranormal on screen more than on the page for some reason. I don’t know why that is. Hm.
If only they would make some historical romance movies, and I don’t mean Jane Austen, though those are great. Those aren’t really “romances.” Jane would’ve been mortified if anyone called her books romances, I think. I believe Prinny’s librarian suggested she write “a historical romance” (a la Walter Scott) but she was aghast at the suggestion and just made fun of it.
I mean like in Sue’s poll above, real historical romances like Woodwiss and Stephanie Laurens’ books.
Where the heck is Hollywood on this? they could make a fortune. go figure.

Hi, Gaelen! “My Dangerous Duke” sounds like my kind of fellow. Rohan–portrayed by a sexy, surly, swaggering, beefed-up, long-haired Gerard Butler! All I would ask of Gerard, at first, would be to just speak to me in his natural Scottish accent.
Sam Elliott is still the love of my life, and he can speak to me in any language he chooses : ) I love gruff, rough, tough men with big hearts and a core of kindness. No matter what other “attributes” a man has, he is not really appealing without an essentially compassionate nature.
The “Alpha” male is the dominant leader of the pack. They have qualities and strengths which make them “number one”! Along with all that greatness can come arrogance, a “my way is the only way” attitude, and a sometimes ornery personality. However, their fierce devotion to their loved ones, their loyalty and their innate honor all go together quite nicely to smooth the rough edges. Not too smooth, though…leave some of that masculine allure…a little beard stubble to tickle your skin : )
June 29th, 2010 on 11:59 am
Perfect summary, Virginia, I agree on all points!
Hero minus good heart equal villain. Or just loser. LOL.
Hope you like it!! Thanks for your interest.
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 10:29 am
Congrats on your new release. Sounds like a great book. I have most of your books. I try to buy them as they come out. I hope to win this one. Have a Happy 4th!
June 29th, 2010 on 1:45 pm
Thanks, Kimmy, and good luck! You have a happy 4th too. I hope the weather is good for fireworks!
I just can’t believe it’s already July…2010 is already half over. how did that happen?? lol.
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 10:28 am
I’d want Jared Padalecki to wash my car shirtless on a hot summer day! Congrats on your release!
June 29th, 2010 on 12:09 pm
Oh, another I have to look up. I don’t know this name! LOL.
Thanks for the good wishes! I’m very excited.
Also excited because I’m ALMOST DONE with Jordan’s book (Book 3 of the Inferno Club, coming in April, to be title MY IRRESISTIBLE EARL.) It’s due in to my editor at Avon on Thursday! Chugging along to the end…
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 1:49 pm
Ok, I found a picture of this guy. Whoa… CUTE.
Guess I can add Supernatural to my viewing list now, LOL.
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 10:27 am
This book sounds positively delicious! Rohan sounds intense (but lovable once you see his weakness, which of course, he won’t admit to having). The whole plot sounds great, can’t wait to read!
Best of luck Gaelen and Merry Release Day!
June 29th, 2010 on 12:01 pm
Aw, thanks Rita!!! Happy to see you here! I am keeping my fingers crossed that it lives up to your expectations!
A labor of love for sure.
Hugs,
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 10:26 am
Hi Gaelen. Congrats on your new release. Sounds fabulous. I would choose Matthew McConaughey. Love his Southern charm.
June 29th, 2010 on 12:02 pm
I know, I LOVE his voice! Texas, right? I think so. Although he looks more surfer boy than cowboy. *g*
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 10:18 am
Giles Marini! OMG! I want him! Please! - No I will not tell you what I would make him do.

Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 9:24 am
Congratulations on the new release!! It’s difficult to choose a real life “gift” when everyday a new celebrity scandal breaks out. LOL So I’ll list attributes: handsome, intelligent and witty.
June 29th, 2010 on 9:49 am
You know, that is sad but true. If they’re not wrecking cars and getting DUI’s they’re marrying their kids’ nannies. Kills the hero fantasy every time!
Well, we’ve still got our romance book heroes. LOL.
Thanks so much,
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 9:17 am
I love the other books in the series and am really looking forward to this one. I love the “beast” type.
I’d love to have me some Clive Owen. And as for what I’d have him do???? Hmmm. Talk to me while he’s doing…the laundry. Where did you think I was going with that?
June 29th, 2010 on 9:48 am
LOL, yeah laundry day, right… I agree, he’s yummy.
Hope you like the book!
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 9:07 am
GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY!!! HI SUE! So great to join you today. Thanks for having me at your wonderful Borders True Romance blog!
What an exciting day this is for me. Thank you so much for coming over to share it with me. Release Day for an author is like Christmas morning for a little kid. *g* I wake up extra early and just start bouncing off the walls. LOL.
Thank you for all the great comments so far, glad you’re excited about My Dangerous Duke, and I see you all have Excellent! taste in ze gentlemens.
Elizabeth, you’re a Chuck fan, too?? That show makes me laugh so much. I LOVE the Nerd Herd. That is my kind of humor. It’s fast moving enough too that it even holds my ADD husband’s attention. If I write fast-paced books it’s because my dh is my first reader and he cannot sit through anything boring. LOL.
I’ll answer the other comments individually cuz everyone had such funny things to say…
Hugs all around!
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 8:24 am
Hmmm, if I could have a hunk given to me…let’s see, either Brandon Routh or David Boreanaz. More likely Routh at this point. Who wouldn’t want Superman (or a villain like he was on Chuck)? But I’d take David too! Heh. Dark hair, dark eyes, it works for me!
June 29th, 2010 on 8:24 am
I love your book trailer. And your book covers are beauriful. Would love to read your books. Adding them to my to read list.
June 29th, 2010 on 9:08 am
Many thanks, Sue. What a cute little kitty avatar you have.
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 6:56 am
I would pick Keith Urban. I think a tour of Australia would be great.
Your book sounds fantastic.
June 29th, 2010 on 9:09 am
Hi!
I recognize that screen name. I have something for you! wink.
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 6:47 am
Congrats on the release. I’ve been looking forward to Rohan’s story — he seems like a fabulous alpha hero in need of a good woman. As for a hottie gift NCIS guys Mark Harmon or Chris ODonnell would be nice — Sexy alpha types, tough but tender
or (of course) Hugh Jackman — can sing, dance and growl as a sexy hot alpha hero, and that accent is yummy
June 29th, 2010 on 9:51 am
Thank you! and that answer’s funny. You crack me up. But I definitely agree! LOL.
Enjoy!
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 5:33 am
The series sounds interesting, I’ll have to add it to my TBR list!
June 29th, 2010 on 9:14 am
Thanks, Ellanabeth. If you like high concept, high adventure sort of things with a good dose of intrigue alongside the romance, then that’s the general vibe of what I’ve got going on in this series.
My last series (the Knight Miscellany) was a little more character-focused. I will probably do more books like that in the future, once I get this high adventure bug out of my system, *g* but when I finished all my Knight books (10 in all!), and the premise for the Inferno Club series came to me, I got so excited about it, I just couldn’t wait to write these books.
Hope you like ‘em! Thanks again,
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 5:25 am
I would love “get” Ciaran Hinds. He is the perfect Frederick Wentworth. I would like to watch him onstage. I have only seen him in the movies.
Good luck with the new book - it looks super.
June 29th, 2010 on 9:52 am
Thanks, Susan! Wow, Ciaran Hinds. Nice choice! That guy just oozes presence and charisma, doesn’t he?
I always enjoy his movies. Thanks for coming to frolick with me on Release Day!
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 3:47 am
Congratulations, Gaelen, on the release of MDD! I can’t wait to get it…I’m going to my fave indie bookstore today!
I have just “discovered” Gerard Butler, oh, my! He is one cute hottie! Otherwise, I would say a young Tom Selleck would be a perfect hero.
June 29th, 2010 on 9:53 am
Thanks, Deb!!! I like your choices!
Hope you enjoy MY DANGEROUS DUKE!
Gaelen, keeping fingers crossed
June 29th, 2010 on 3:14 am
Happy Release Day, Gaelen. I would want my gift to be Derek Jeter. He handles himself well on and off the field. I think I’ll have him cook me dinner in his uniform.
June 29th, 2010 on 9:54 am
Cuuute. Geez, can he cook, too?? I wonder. A man of many talents…
Gaelen
June 29th, 2010 on 2:19 am
Hi! I’ve got a copy of “My Dangerous Duke” so I would love to win a copy of “My Wicked Marquess”.
For a hottie, I’d like Taylor Lautner or Eric Bana, a strong, cute guy. I’d like him to give me a shiatsu massage (hence the need for strength). Yep, some deep tissue work by a topless, muscular hottie… What was the question?
June 29th, 2010 on 9:55 am
LOL, sigh, Eric Bana. I don’t know the other guy! Must get on The Google…
Many thanks… lol
June 29th, 2010 on 1:44 am
Oh, I can’t wait to read this book!!!! It sounds so good! I think it would be a toss up between Sam Elliot and George Cloney and all I would want is for them to talk to me. Or maybe read your book to me. I could just listen to them all day long!!!
June 29th, 2010 on 9:56 am
Yeah, sigh… what a nice way to spend an afternoon.
Hm, wonder if either of them can do an English accent. That would be definitely weird coming out of Sam Elliot’s mouth…lol.
Gaelen
