I haven’t had the time to make a wish list for 2010 so thanks for starting my list with your suggestions Sue and thanks everyone for their input also. I love seeing authors that I read early on are still going strong and that they have new releases out (Catherine Anderson, Kat Martin, Jude Deveraux, Julie Garwood).

oh I know — seems like I buy everything I want to read for the month — get thru 1/2, then the next month rolls around & I buy those, read 1/2 and so the cycle goes — but what fun!
January 22nd, 2010 on 3:03 pm
I’ve been telling anyone who’ll listen about Kaki Warner’s Pieces of Sky. It just beautiful, and I can’t believe it’s her first book.
January 22nd, 2010 on 4:50 pm
OMG — I should have had that in my list — I’m not a big historical western fan but Kiki Warner & Early Dawn by Catherine Anderson certainly are persuading me to read more.
January 22nd, 2010 on 3:01 pm
my favorite read this month is emma wildes’ lessons from a scarlet lady
January 22nd, 2010 on 4:49 pm
That was a darn good book - put Cara Elliott on your shopping list or preorder — another debut that rocks http://www.borders.com/online/store/TitleDetail?sku=044654129X

I recently finished WHAT I DID FOR LOVE by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and really enjoyed it. She does humor so well, and I love the feeling of being a Hollywood insider. I’ve got a very strong theory about which celebrities inspired the story…
January 22nd, 2010 on 4:48 pm
That was lots of fun — I read the HC last year, so now you’ve got me thinking of the celeb’s — I’m going to check now.
January 22nd, 2010 on 2:12 pm
I just finished Naked Dragon by Annette Blair. And before that a sci-fi by Anne McCaffrey.
Next week is Twice as Hot by Gena Showalter and in Feb. is Accidentally Demonic by Dakota Cassidy.
March is my big month with nine on my TBB list.
January 22nd, 2010 on 12:49 pm
Just finished The Duke Next Door by Celeste Bradley which I thought was great!!!
So looking forward to getting SEP’s What I Did For Love!

You’ll love SEP - happy reading
January 22nd, 2010 on 12:47 pm
Looks like a great list, Sue!
I’m in writing/research mode, so I’m reading JANE AUSTEN AND HER TIMES. (I save the fun stuff for between manuscripts!) Susan Elizabeth Philips is always fun. I’ll have to scoop up WHAT I DID FOR LOVE for future reading pleasure.
Thanks for sharing your picks!

I loved Courtney Milan’s Proof by Seduction. Jenny is one of my favorite heroines ever. And A Matter of Class is another Balogh keeper. She’s amazing! I also loved Barbara O’Neal’s The Secret of Everything (romantic elements rather than straight romance), Beverly Kendall’s debut Sinful Surrender, and Kate Moore’s new one (after too long a wait)To Tempt a Saint. I’m reading The Truth about Lord Stoneville now. Lots of good books to start the new year!
January 22nd, 2010 on 4:45 pm
I loved the Milan & Balogh too — Balogh is so darn clever — don’t forget to preorder Secret Affair - http://www.borders.com/online/store/TitleDetail?sku=0385343302 it was wonderful! By the sound of it you’re primarily a historical fan? My favorite sub-genre too.
January 22nd, 2010 on 11:04 am
My best reads in January are:
- On the Edge by Ilona Andrews (nice urban fantasy/romance with a very interesting world and storyline)
- Shades of Midnight by Lara Adrian (my favorite Midnight Breeds story so far, loved the Alaskan setting and enjoyed the hero and heroine)
- Coming Undone by Lauren Dane (nice realistic romance with two good leads, really liked the tattooed hero with a good heart)

I cannot believe you recommend Hunting Julian. The forced prostitution element means I would never, ever recommend this book to anyone. The female lead was awful and the whole story left me feeling in need of several showers. Beware of this book!
January 22nd, 2010 on 11:50 am
Well — you’re right, I should have qualified that more as it is a tougher read . . . have to admit, some of those scenes I did not read in detail.
But you know, there is always a book for everyone so I try to keep that in mind in my recommendations.
Thanks for pointing that out as that is a big call out.
January 22nd, 2010 on 9:23 am
I have read Catherine Andeson’s Early Dawn and it was v.g. and also Lucky Charm by Carly Phillips - Excellent.
January 22nd, 2010 on 9:03 am
I LOVED “The Truth About Lord Stoneville”. I think it’s the right beginning to a fun new series. The hero is flawed, but in a good way!
On my shelf for the rest of the month - Days of Gold by Deveraux and Sizzle by Garwood. Two of my favorite authors that got me into romance back in the day!
Melissa Mayhue’s next book - A Highlander’s Homecoming is coming out later this month, so I’m psyched about that…and I received an early copy of the new Kleypas (yes!).
January 22nd, 2010 on 9:07 am
OMG! I am SO jealous about the new Kleypas. You lucky gal!
January 22nd, 2010 on 11:46 am
me too!
January 22nd, 2010 on 8:59 am
Ooh, like minds! I read both Stephanie Tyler books, too. I can’t wait for HOLD ON TIGHT…Chris may be my most favorite SEAL yet.
I agree Caitie on Victoria Dahl. Love, love, love her. She literally had me LOL. I just finished TALK ME DOWN & START ME UP back to back and will be picking up LEAD ME ON tomorrow. Saturday is my Borders book run day
Looking forward to LESSONS IN FRENCH (Kinsale) & Connie Brockway’s new one come Feb.
January 22nd, 2010 on 11:48 am
Reading the Golden Season now http://www.borders.com/online/store/TitleDetail?sku=0451412834 & it is very good — great characters although I wish she got into the relationship a little earlier in the book.
January 22nd, 2010 on 8:51 am
I just ordered the new Lara Adrian…can’t wait! The newest Robin Kaye is on the way to me also=) Looking forward to both of these.
I just finished Victoria Dahl’s Lead Me On - loved it! All her contemps have been great:) I’ve yet to try any of her historicals though…
January 22nd, 2010 on 11:48 am
Great choices — enjoy all those authors
January 22nd, 2010 on 4:42 am
I really enjoyed Angela Johnson’s debut “Vow of Seduction” and Laura Griffin’s “Untraceable.” I’m looking forward to the first book in Allison Brennan’s Seven Deadly Sins series.
January 22nd, 2010 on 8:35 am
Laura is good - full characters & great suspense — One Last Breath was my fave . . need to read more of her.http://www.borders.com/online/store/TitleDetail?sku=1416537376
I just got Brennan’s in the mail so definitely plan on reading that this weekend.
January 22nd, 2010 on 2:33 am
So far for January I have read both the Stephanie Tyler books and can’t wait for the next one. Also read Sizzle and loved it. I was lucky and got the arcs for Madeline Hunter’s new ones and could not put them down. They were outstanding. I can’t wait to see what she has to say about them. I have read some others, but those have been the highlights so far. My mom just finished the Joan johnston and Robyn Carr books. As for what books for Feb? To many to list!!
January 22nd, 2010 on 8:38 am
Debra — just got a copy of HOLD ON TIGHT & I agree — the first two were marvelous!http://www.borders.com/online/store/SearchResults?keyword=hold+on+tight&type=1&simple=1
Great author for down time with Brockmann . . Carr is a must read for me too & Madeline definitely on her game with this rarest bloom series.
Just finished TRUTH ABOUT LORD STONEVILLE & Sabrina out does herself with fun bantor, sexy hero but boy is he flawed . . . heroine & her brother are from America so that always adds nice flavor to a regency story.
Thanks for commenting!
