She is the first author to ever release a Soundtrack based on a fiction series. Learn more about BLOODRUSH: the Official Fever Soundtrack, and the latest developments in the Fever World at karenmoning.com.
Hi Sue, and thanks so much for inviting me to blog today! I’m delighted to be here, and to celebrate the release of my latest book, will be giving away a copy of Dreamfever and BloodRush to one lucky winner! Now, onto the questions…. (they were fun, Sue!)
Setting: Dublin, Ireland, the Temple Bar District, Barrons Books & Baubles, an ancient abbey, and the Hall of All Days.
Subgenre: Urban Fantasy, with a healthy dose of eroticism.
Hero: Ha! Wouldn’t you like to know?
Heroine: MacKayla Lane, formerly pink Mac, now black-and-a-little savage-Mac. The girl’s gone dark.
One sentence summary: “What if you were the only person who could save the world, and you’d rather have a life?”
Scene you like most and would never cut: When Mac is recovering from being Pri-ya.
Thing your heroine would never be caught dead saying: “Oh, Jericho, I trust you completely!”
Your hero, is he a boxer or brief kind of guy: He’s a get-totally-naked…er, male.
Ancillary character you had the most fun with: Dani!
Your heroine’s favorite hobby: Previously painting her nails and sunbathing, now racking up the kills.
Your hero’s favorite hobby: You’re assuming there is one…hero, that is.
What you think readers will like best about this book: That there’s another one after it, LOL. Sorry, on a serious note, I think they’ll like how much heart it has. It’s a story that makes you feel deeply. The journey is dangerous and Mac’s surrounded by constant temptation and deception, but although it’s sometimes heart-wrenching, it’s also heart-warming.
The person that readers want you to write about but you haven’t yet: Jericho Barrons. Oh! Wait…I have been writing about him! LOL. From the emails I’ve been getting, from fans who want more JZB, including a book told solely from his point of view, you’d think I haven’t told them anything at all. (There’s no greater compliment—thank you, readers!) Then there’s Ryodan, Christian MacKeltar and I suspect once DREAMFEVER IS out, people will also want more of Dani.
What’s next: SHADOWFEVER: the conclusion of the Fever Series, but don’t worry, I have no intention of leaving the Fever World. That’s where my next series begins.
Thanks again for having me! I’d love to drop by again in the future. Meanwhile, keep your flashlights handy and—as always—stay to the lights!
Karen has offered a very cool giveaway for today: a signed copy of Dreamfever and the Official Fever Soundrack CD: BLOODRUSH. Leave a comment and you’re entered to win!

I am really impressed by the way that you write, and the subject is great. Umm… do you know how well does the Kindle PDF conversion handle PDFs with Math formulas? I read a lot of Math PDFs and I really hate reading on the computer and I think printing everything just to read it once is a waste of paper. So I

omg…what cruel and unusual punishment!! Ending the book the way she did, then not having a release date for the final chapter…argh!!! What am I going to do to pass the time???
There’s a rumour that the Fever series may hit big screen!! Here’s hoping!
Thanks Karen for writing and sharing such great work! Even tho the housework got left, the kids and husband went hungry and phones didn’t get answered…! I was just too busy getting immersed in a whole fantastical other world!

WOW!!! What a ride it’s been with this series…Karen definitely can’t write them fast enough
The suspense of ending Dreamfever where she did is cruel and unusual punishment…
My brain keeps going over parts of the story trying to figure out who died at the end of the story…
Glad to hear there’s another Fae series coming out.

September 30th, 2009 on 12:25 pm
I really enjoy the fever series, can’t wait for the next one. I do miss the highlander books though, so it is nice to see a reference from time to time in the fever series that takes me back to one of the highlander books!

I love all the books too. I listen to them on audio, they are so much fun!

I am a romance juckie I have over thousands of books. I keep all of them and read them over and over again and while I love books I don’t do series unless all the books in a series have been writen. I have to know what happens. The boy and girl must be together. It has to have a happy ending. So I stay away from series until I have the ending. Your books are some of the best. So whenever one of your books came out I got it and love it.Then came Darkfever. I didn’t know it was part of a series till after I was done. It was too late I was hooked and now everyday I go online to see when the next one is coming. I have all four books and I read them over and over again to see things I missed and they never get seem to get boring. Dreamfever is the best so far I’m sure shadowfever will be even better. Though I hate waiting I love the books. They are more intense than anything I have have ever read. I am actually sorry that shadowfever is the last book. I wish they could just keep going on and on. I glad you did this series and I can’t wait till the next one.
September 30th, 2009 on 7:42 am
This is exactly what happened to me. I love to read series, but got very frustrated when I came to the end of the first Fever book and discovered that I had more questions than answers. I prefer that each book stand on its own and have a complete ending, like a lot of romance series. Oh, well, I, too, am hooked. Since it’s been so long since that last book now, I’m considering saving the money on the hardcover Dreamfever and just waiting until Shadowfever is written. That way, I can refresh my memory and satisfy my sense of completion all at the same time.
August 28th, 2009 on 11:02 am
I love this series and I can’t get enough of it. I know have most of my friends reading it I have so one to talk to about it!
August 28th, 2009 on 9:49 am
I’d love to play!
August 28th, 2009 on 5:45 am
She is the best isn’t she. now after readinf dreamfever. when I get the chance to, I must own all the series including shadowfever!!
August 27th, 2009 on 9:52 pm
I absolutely love Karen Marie Moning. No one writes this type of Urban Fantasy/Romance better than she does. The web that she weaves is so very well thought out. I’d love to see the mapping she’s done on this storyline, her office must be covered in charts!! LOL! Barrons and Mac….now there’s a pairing that is scrumptious! Add a little V’lane to get Barrons all Alpha-male jealous and you’ve got some sparks a-flying!!
Love, love, love it!
August 27th, 2009 on 9:02 pm
If I comment more is there a greater chance of me winning!?
August 27th, 2009 on 8:18 pm
I hope i win^^^^^. And I also love the highlander series. I read all of them. I really loved and getting a copy of Spell of the Highlander. and for christmas the entire series.
August 27th, 2009 on 8:06 pm
SOoooooo, this is what happened today. I was online checking on my email to see if I got any new email from my university. then, I got up to make me a big bowl of cereal. Than a thought popped up. I need a new book to read. After a few seconds past my cereal bowl literally hit the floor and I flew to the computer to borders. com checking out to see if karens new book came out. IT DID!!!!!. I was so dissappointed with my self. I usually keep track of my favorite authors, but i’m an incoming freshmen and I had alot!!! of things to do before school start the following week.
Anyway, I got anxious, so I called my local library and asked if they could hold the book for( I have no car to get to borders and CT transit system sucks) they said that was possible, until she told me I was quered number 3 on list.I agreed, but I wasn’t done yet. I went online and sat for 2 hours straight to see if i could get a sneak of what happened to mac after she got raped and became pri-ya( well nothing helpful there) It just build up my anticipation.
Then, I got this really cool Idea; why not give my dad an excuse on how I needed a really important book for class. It almost work. So now I’m here and want to get a signed edition of DREAMFEVER111!!!! from my favorite author. Yup life can be a bummer and so far I’m surviving. lol.
August 27th, 2009 on 4:49 pm
I can’t wait to read this series.
August 27th, 2009 on 4:16 pm
Loved the Highlander series. I am now going through them on audio. I am also enjoying the Fever series but I love/hate the cliffhangers. They are fabulous but I just want to read the next one to see what happens. Is Shadowfever completed? Here’s hoping the pub date moves up to December 09.

I have read all Karen’s books from both series and I love the intricate detail that she weaves the stories together with her characters. Her research into Celtic lore spun with her imaginative characters make her books entertaining as well as thought provoking.
I love them and can’t wait for the next one!

LOL Karen, you are right!! Dani was soooo cute in Dreamfever! Many of us see her & Ryodan together. . . & now we’re all curious about the 8 other guys too lol Christian is also very cool.

I loved your entry! Thanks for sharing. ^^
August 26th, 2009 on 8:51 pm
Thank you for sharing with all of us here.
Dark Highlander was the first book I read after having my eyes fixed & finally being able to read a book again… It floored me.
I didn’t think another book would ever come close to it, but this series is just killer. No questions just a plead. Please let us know what Jerico is by the end of the series.. it’s driving me crazy..lol
Thank you so much for going thru all you do to bring us these increadible worlds.

Hi Karen!
I just wanted to let you know that while there are specific things I want to know about JZB (like, duh, what the heck is he? lol), the character whose personality interests me most right now is actually Dani! I don’t think I’ve ever loved a secondary character more. The kid’s got depth. Thanks so much for including her!

Karen,
Your writing is absoluely compelling and your attention to detail is to be applauded. It’s been a while since I read the Highlander series but now I want to go and re-read them all over again which truly is a testament to your work.
Thank you for the great escape and even more so for creating women who are survivors in the truest sense of the word.
August 26th, 2009 on 7:40 pm
I love this series and I’m really looking forward to Dreamfever. Of course, the Highlander series in on my to-be-reread-in-times-of-great-stress pile. Doesn’t everyone have one of those?

August 26th, 2009 on 7:20 pm
Karen! I love your books! Hate the cliff hangers (LoL)
I have read all your books and am in love with Jericho and Adam. You are by far the best even though I still can’t breath because of the end of dreamfever. Please Please release Shadowfever Fast and some Lady Lies more frequently so the pain of the wait is a little more bearable. THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU AND COMING WITH A WHOLE NEW WORLD FOR US TO ESCAPE TO.

August 26th, 2009 on 5:30 pm
I seriously love you so much Karen. You are my most favorite author ever!!! Congratulations on all the success of Dreamfever. Shadowfever and Fevercon in 2010, you spoil us my dear. My goal is to meet you in person soon since I have been unable to go to those get together.
August 26th, 2009 on 5:11 pm
Thanks, Karen! FeverCon sounds like an event that can’t be missed! I am all about any kind of contest that includes Mac!
PS I am working on a portrait of a very “dark and disturbed” Mac based on Dreamfever…definitely a black Mac.
I am looking forward to painting Mac after reading Shadowfever! (maybe a Mac in pink leather, LOL!!!);)
August 26th, 2009 on 5:03 pm
I love your books. I just discovered your Fever series and I love it!
August 26th, 2009 on 4:54 pm
Sweet Hopefully this will be the first event I am able to attend and what a way to pop that cherry WOOHOO!!
August 26th, 2009 on 4:54 pm
Hey Karen,
I apologize if this has already been asked, I didn’t see it but I could have missed it. In your new series will there be any McKeltars? oh and my friend wants me to ask if Adam will ever make a guest appearance in any of the new books (she’s obsessed with Adam). I love your books and can’t wait for the next one to come out. And no matter what I will be at FeverCon. Take Care of yourself.

August 26th, 2009 on 4:49 pm
I love your books
August 26th, 2009 on 4:47 pm
Sweet!!! Karen you and Leiha rock! A FeverCon and Shadowfever together, I think I must go lay down for a bit my brain is on overload right now and I absolutely love it hehehe ;P
August 26th, 2009 on 4:43 pm
Regarding FeverCon, we’re not sure of the date yet, but it’s going to be amazing! One thing we will be doing that I can talk about is a “Pink Mac/Black Mac” contest that’s going to be a blast. We’ll be sharing more details soon. We’ll only be able to handle a limited number, it will be first come/first serve, and that’s pretty much all I can say for now. Oh–and it will conincide (sort of) with Shadowfever’s release.
August 26th, 2009 on 4:41 pm
Love ALL your books, and hope we don’t have to wait too long for the next one!
Best mental picture:
JZB and Mac singing and dancing to
“i get knocked down, but I get up again, ain’t nobody gonna keep me down”!!
August 26th, 2009 on 4:40 pm
Oooh, so exciting to hear that we might be able to revisit the Keltars! Can’t get enough of them!
Thanks for the interview and the insider info.
August 26th, 2009 on 4:33 pm
Hi Karen, I’d sure love to see more from Barrons POV along with everyoe else, and glad to see you still plan to write more on the Fever world, so many characters we want to know more about.
August 26th, 2009 on 4:26 pm
Hi Karen,
I am exzcited abou the new book and have read half of it already…My question to you is….You got me hooked with the series before the Fever books and I am wondering if these books will ever get to the point where they will be alike…or are we totally on a new path and never going back to more of the romance? I truly enjoy the books now but really miss the romance as in the older series. Thanks,
Rena Charles

I thought I would at least ask one question you might be willing to answer, LOL!!!!
August 26th, 2009 on 4:06 pm
Karen,
Thank you for bringing the joy of reading into my life! I’ve always read self help books but novels were for imaginative people. I love where your books transport me and how they make me feel. Thank you!!
August 26th, 2009 on 4:02 pm
Karen, I love your books. I fell in love with the first book after reading the first couple of pages. The fact that she’s from the south and loves southern food and knows the names of her OPI nail polishes is awesome. I will be waiting anxiously for Shadowfever.
August 26th, 2009 on 4:00 pm
Wow, am I a stalker today or what! Just found out about FeverCon today on the boards, but only that there might be one, so my ? is do you and Leiha have any ideas on where and when yet, sorry about bein’ a stalker today just can’t help maself! ;D
August 26th, 2009 on 3:48 pm
KMM’s Highlander series is unforgettable!
August 26th, 2009 on 3:46 pm
At this point, I’m not certain if I’ll be attending RT or RWA next year. Finishing Shadowfever, and getting ready for FeverCon may take up all my time. Will keep you all updated!
August 26th, 2009 on 3:42 pm
Dawn asked:
“At the booksigning, you mentioned briefly that at one time you thought about doing a Keltar Christmas to catch us up on what happened with Nell, Sylvan, etc. and that might explain the missing Dageus portrait. Do you *still* plan to do one sometime?”
Yes, I do plan to write that one. Just don’t know when. I haven’t been able to shake it from my head for years, so it will get written.
Also Dawn wrote:
“. Sky sent me this question on the blog to ask you at the booksigning, but you had closed down the questions. It was too late… So, for her… Did the woman Barrons carried out of the Mirror want to be killed by him?”
No.
August 26th, 2009 on 3:39 pm
You have definitely become one of my all time favorite authors. I love your books! Love them! I still have to order my copy of Dreamfever. I think I’ve gone a little crazy from waiting!
August 26th, 2009 on 3:30 pm
Holy cow how on earth could I have forgotten to ask ?’s Love seein’ familiar names and faces on here hehehe. Any thoughts or ideas on Dani havin’ her own story, and I’m definitely dyin’ to know if Christine is gettin’ his own story? I was also hopin’ that maybe we might get to have maybe a little family reunion with the MacKelters to find out how they’re all doin’ check up on there kids, stuff like that ya know (wink wink.) You poor woman, before you tackle any of this or write any more books, you just make sure you get back to good health and hopefully stay there. Rest relax repeat ;D
August 26th, 2009 on 3:25 pm

August 26th, 2009 on 3:09 pm
Karen, I’m so bummed I missed seeing you at the reading! I’ve been to all the meetings in Atlanta and had such a great time! You are an amazing woman, and of course an amazing writer! I hope we have another get together soon…Atlanta again, or maybe a bit closer to Tallahassee?
P.S.-as if it would have been anything else, Dreamfever was amazing!! Can all of our questions really be answered in only one more book?! I can’t wait!
Christina (Kilikina)
August 26th, 2009 on 3:06 pm
For new readers — just a reminder, this is a connected series, whereas, although you get a satisfying ending to each book it is by no means the conclusion —
A few authors are doing this in the Romance sub genre & it definitely has an appeal —
The way to avoid the void, is read them all back to back
August 26th, 2009 on 2:59 pm
Hi Karen!
The book signing was such a memorable experience. I am framing the shirt that you, Neil, and Leiha signed!! Your writing is unforgettable, Neil’s singing is powerful, and Leiha’s energy level is unbelievable. Thank you for sharing your life and talent with all of us readers. What an imagination you have! I love all of your books and I’m addicted to the Fever series.
P.S. “Mac and Barrons forever!!!”
August 26th, 2009 on 2:46 pm
I love the Fever Books. Can’t wait to read this one!
August 26th, 2009 on 2:42 pm
Is there a question that you will answer &/or would have at the booksigning if we’d ask(ed) the right one? hee hee
August 26th, 2009 on 2:39 pm
Thanks to all of you for asking about my health. I am definitely taking a short break and you wouldn’t believe how excited about it I am. I have a cat watch and instead of hours marked on the face each hours is one of the following: EAT, SLEEP, PLAY, PLAY, SLEEP, EAT, EAT, SLEEP, PLAY. I plan to wear it for awhile, LOL.

Hello Karen! I have so many questions and I know you’d answer all of them with a laugh and a ‘wait-and-see’ comment, so I won’t ask, lol! Just want to say that I love all of your writings, and after at first hesitating to read the Fever series, it has racheted up to the top of my favorites series ever list. Dreamfever has capture my imagination so much that I I’ve developed several ‘possible followups’ and ‘what-ifs’ already in my head that I’m quite enjoying, can’t wait to see what you do in Shadowfever! Sometimes these days I feel that I’m falling into the Fever series and it’s becoming more real than reality! Thank you so much for pursuing your writing interests and sharing your creativity with us! Eager to hear more details about FeverCon! Really hope to meet you and more Maniacs than our So. Calif. crowd some day.
August 26th, 2009 on 2:36 pm
Cayla, Dani, that wench, doesn’t obey a single order I give her. She’ll be around until she decides not to be, LOL. I’m so delighted you liked her! (She’s also feeling pretty fecking smug about it.)
August 26th, 2009 on 2:35 pm
I’m back, but give me a few minutes to catch up….too many phone calls today! And I just had to run Leiha to the airport.
August 26th, 2009 on 2:28 pm
Love, love, LOVE your books Karen. Never have I been so addicted to a series. I devoured Dreamfever in one sitting and have been dying ever since.
I wanted to ask about Dani. How awesome is she? I loved her so much in this book and I was wondering if she will star in her own series?
August 26th, 2009 on 2:26 pm
I just So Love The Fever World!!!
KMM you are just great, so so very cruel!,I reaaaally need more of JZB, And i’m dying to get ShadowFever on my hands!.
been a maniac is one of the best things that happened to me. THANKS!!!
August 26th, 2009 on 2:18 pm
Fell in love with the Highlander series, can’t wait to start this new one!
August 26th, 2009 on 2:14 pm
Karen, I love the setting of your book. Sounds like it will lend a really great ambiance to the story. Can’t wait to see who…or what… the hero is!
August 26th, 2009 on 2:10 pm
Thanks! I’d love a chance at the autographed copy and music.
After reading this latest Fever installment, I’m getting the feeling that Mac’s “romance” may be with herself! We’ve been assured that the series is a romance but now perhaps without a “hero”? Interesting concept…
August 26th, 2009 on 2:04 pm
Please count me in.
August 26th, 2009 on 1:58 pm
Great interview and awesome givaway! Though I’ve never read any of the ‘fever’ series, Karen, I’ve read your ‘Highlander’ series and love it! Your writing style is very easy to fall into!
August 26th, 2009 on 1:51 pm
Make sure all these characters continue keeping you up at night, Karen. ;0) I hope you’re doing well. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
August 26th, 2009 on 1:45 pm
Karen, Please tell us we will not have to wait a close to a year for Shadowfever
August 26th, 2009 on 1:44 pm
Karen,
We all love you and your “story-telling”, but first and foremost, we want you HEALTHY!!!…try to take some time for yourself and really relax…a few weeks vacation on Moar might help, lol…we will all be waiting patiently till you get us our next Fever-fix…bap
August 26th, 2009 on 1:43 pm
I love this series. I cant wait to see what you have coming in the Fever World after this series.
August 26th, 2009 on 1:23 pm
Hi Everyone -
Okay… so when I first pulled up the comment page I didn’t realize that Karen was actually popping up here and there answering questions… so I was just going to leave my “amazon review” (I call them that, because - besides other maniacs - you don’t see many good reviews).
However, now I do have a 2 questions for Karen…
My 1st question is:
Are you taking a break and recovering from DreamFever, and taking care of your health?
My 2nd question is:
You said in an answer on this page that it was hardest to get Dani out when it was her turn to stop talking, does Dani get her own novella?
August 26th, 2009 on 1:19 pm
So glad to see that Gabby is helping the MacKeltars! One question though. Will Mac and Gabby meet?
August 26th, 2009 on 1:17 pm
Hi Karen!
It is obvious I think that everyone here loves The Fever series except for that pesky Diane v a few messages up what is her deal Very rude in my opinion!
I am hoping to one day be able to coordinate my schedule and attend one of the fabulous events that you and Leiha always plan! Before I’m 80 I hope hehehehe.
You are my absolute favorite author- I tell everyone! Constantly! everyone is getting of me hahaha
I’m already dying for ShadowFever– I need to learn to read slower I devoured Dreamfever in like 5 hours the day it was released
You’re the Best!~
Heather aka Highlandlove
August 26th, 2009 on 1:16 pm
Karen,
Thank you for another amazing series. Your stories are heart warming and brilliant, and will be re-read for years to come. (Shadowfever can’t come soon enough…LOL)
August 26th, 2009 on 1:15 pm
I’ve been reading her novels since they first came out, and I have to say that they just get better and better. I continue to want more and more. When it comes to Karen’s writing and stories, I dive in head first and suddenly I am alive, and I am voracious. It took me a day to devour Dreamfever, the first time (I’ve read it few times since then), and I’m dying for Shadowfever. But I will wait. I will be patient, but just barely…:)
August 26th, 2009 on 1:13 pm
Hey Karen!
I just have one question: FeverCon?!?!?! Where do I sign up??
OK, 2 questions: Will you please inform Dani that the line starts behind me for those Saving themselves for Barrons?!?!! LOL
Great Interview! And thanks for writing such wonderful books that we can talk and talk and talk about with family, friends and even perfect strangers!
Julie =)

Hi Karen, I won’t ask any questions because I’m pretty sure you won’t be answering, insted I just wanted to tell you I think you’re simply the best. At least to me. Paraphrasing a certain sexy vampire: “you are my brand of heroine”, as in there might be a million other good authors out there, but to me, you’re number one and always will be. You write EXACTLY the way I want to read. I’m sorry I’m not able to express myself more clearly. I hope you get the point, and as Jill said before,” I think Karen Marie Moning out-writes every other romance writer……” well, I think this time, you’ve managed to out-write yourself …BRAVO !!!
Thanks for the amazing ride, the gifts, the events, the wonderful community and everything you do for us fans. Being a Moning Maniac is GREAT !!!
I love you, I hope I’ll get to meet you sometime.
PS: I’m reading Zafon’s right now and I’m loving it !! beautiful book, such rich language and lovely characters, you gotta love Fermin, lol.
August 26th, 2009 on 1:04 pm
LOVED Dreamfever. Anxiously awaiting Shadowfever and it cannot come soon enough. Love me some JB!
August 26th, 2009 on 1:01 pm
So I finally got to go back and read the other comments. I saw that you said Gabby (and I guess by default, Adam) is (are) helping the MacKeltars! Does this mean that Gabby got her Sidhe-seer gifts back again?
I doubt you will answer with how, but…HOW?!!! LMAO!
August 26th, 2009 on 1:01 pm
Hi, Karen!!
I believe you believe in tough love, because you lovingly torture us with all these teasers and half/non-answers! It’s kililng me!!! Sweetly of course. You really care about your Maniacs and we appreciate you very much. You are an awesome author, love all your work!!
August 26th, 2009 on 12:57 pm
I love your books. We want more of them - soon. What ist the date of SHADOWFEVER ?
August 26th, 2009 on 12:57 pm
Karen,
Can you tell us a little about your plans for Jo’s character in Shadowfever? Please tell me she will be very likable, lovely, and competent!!!! *I hope*
Thanks!
Jill
August 26th, 2009 on 12:56 pm
I love this book! I think the best scenes are from Mac being brought back from Pri-ya by Barrons. It gives us so much insight into his character as well as some very druel worthy mental imagery. I hope you keep up the fantastic work and thank you for letting us slip into this world of your making.

I don’t want to win a copy of DreamFever…stopped reading the series after the crappy ending of FaeFever (I returned it for a refund.)
I just wanted to say that you need to go back to what you did best — the Highlanders.
August 26th, 2009 on 12:33 pm
Karen,
I don’t believe you actually answered a question!! So glad to hear Gabby is helping the Keltars and Adam might be in Shadowfever-please!!! He and Darroc have such a history I think Adam needs to see his downfall (or redemption-Jill). Thank you for you & Neil sharing your time, talents, wisdom, & Leiha with us.LOL Your signings I will never miss and your books I won’t even let leave my room. I can not get enough of Bloodrush; the idea of a CD to go with the book was just genuis; and Neil is sooo good on the CD. You are my #1 author!!! Take care of yourself!!
August 26th, 2009 on 12:31 pm
Okay, I got worried when you said Shadowfever was the conclusion to your Fever series. But now I feel better knowing you have another series starting right behind it. Can you tell I can’t get enough of your books?!?!?
August 26th, 2009 on 12:21 pm
Thanks Karen, for a fabulous series. I’ve been holding off reading Dreamfever until all the kids are in school — can’t wait to turn of the phone and spend the day! I have been re-reading and listening to the podcast all summer (loved that by the way — had it on in the car while driving to camps, etc), and the wait for this book is just about killing me. And even if I haven’t read it yet, I can still confidently say, please write faster!!!!!!
August 26th, 2009 on 12:21 pm
Hey Karen,
I have a few questions, some from backstories, I’m hoping you *will* answer (maybe a futile hope… but a girl still can )since my other DreamFever questions seem to all be spoilers… and a couple more from DreamFever I figure I throw out there anyway. :
1. At the booksigning, you mentioned briefly that at one time you thought about doing a Keltar Christmas to catch us up on what happened with Nell, Sylvan, etc. and that might explain the missing Dageus portrait. Do you *still* plan to do one sometime?
2. Is touching hands over the hearts symbolic or required for the exchange of druid vows? I wonder because when Gwen says them to Drustan, he’s locked in the garderobe but still seems to be affected by her saying them? However, he at least did it when he said them to her.
3. Given your interview with Barrons in the CD booklet and the mystery surrounding him in the books… do *you* know what he is at this point??? LOL And is your skin still tingling from where he touched you?
4. At this point, is Mac able to cross any wards? Is she just able to cross Barrons’ wards (even though Darroc and V’lane can’t) because of some bond between them now (kinda like Voice can’t be used on someone you train in it)?
5. Sky sent me this question on the blog to ask you at the booksigning, but you had closed down the questions. It was too late… So, for her… Did the woman Barrons carried out of the Mirror want to be killed by him?
6. When Drustan went back in time, his present day self could not remain and ended up merged with his past self. But when Dageus went back, they were so different that they both remained intact, co-existing. So, are there now two Dageus’ in the time continuum? Or just the one that resulted?
Okay… I guess that’s a long enuff list… maybe you’ll answer 1 or 2 of them? Maybe none… But, Barrons taught Mac… you have hope. You must keep it. So, I am!!! LOL

Hi Karen, I have a whole favorites book shelf with your titles and still love to re-read them. Just finished reading Faefever, so I am primed and ready to go. Put Dreamfever on my weekend to buy list, and can’t wait to read it. I love this series, so please keep them coming.
August 26th, 2009 on 12:06 pm
Hi Karen,
Bree from the forum here. Just wanted to say that I am obsessing over this series of yours more than I have ever obsessed over any other book. BOOK - singular. There are 5 in your series. I’m just about going out of my mind here.
You said somewhere among all these comments to watch for the Fae the MacKeltars can’t see, in reference to Adam. Does that mean Adam is Fae again?
August 26th, 2009 on 12:04 pm
Great interview. Karen’s books sound so good.
August 26th, 2009 on 12:00 pm
What is this FeverCon thing everyone is talking about and how did I miss it?
August 26th, 2009 on 11:47 am
Karen,
It was so great to get to meet you at the signing on Saturday! I have read both the Highlander and Fever series and love all of your books!
Here’s my question: Are the 5 most powerful druids mentioned in Spell of the Highlander Dageus, Drustan, Cian, Christopher, and Christian? I asked this at the signing, but was unhappy with my phrasing so I thought I would ask again, but with a more specific goal/answer in mind!
Thanks!
August 26th, 2009 on 11:46 am
Hi Karen,
I absolutely **LOVED*** Dreamfever. As always, the cliffhanger ending made it impossible to sleep (I read before going to bed). Thank you so much for bringing Mac to us-and JZB of course!
I am still picturing JZB and Mac singing and dancing together-BLISS!
August 26th, 2009 on 11:30 am
Hi Karen,
Loved Dreamfever and thank you for making it possible to purchase an autographed copy. My question is in regards to the interview in the Bloodrush booklet. When did that interview take place, before or after you finished writing Dreamfever?!
August 26th, 2009 on 11:26 am
Karen , I’m absolutely mad about the Fever world. Thank you for creating such fantastic characters living in a fantastic world. Um, loved your Barron’s boxers/briefs comment.
August 26th, 2009 on 11:23 am
Hi Karen!
It was so great meeting you Saturday! Hopefully next time I will be capable of intelligent speech, lol! I want to say thank you so much for all you do for your fans. You really take care of us, as you torture us! I love BLOODRUSH and listen to it constantly. My question is where would you place the song “Rainbow” in the series? Would it be at the beginning of Dreamfever or the end or somewhere else?
Oooh, I can’t wait for FeverCon! Awesome!
Thanks!
August 26th, 2009 on 11:20 am
Karan I really loved Dream Fever. I feel this was the best one so far. I’m not looking farward it to end.
Karen, when you first starting writing this series, did you have to change a plot to make it work? If so what was it? and What did you have to leave out that you wish was in the book?
August 26th, 2009 on 11:18 am
Love this series of books. I had to get all my friends reading them to share in the story. Now we all make a trip together on release date to buy our own copy! I need a real live person there to talk to as I reread the books and discuss them. Never read paranormal before Karen, but she is truly an exceptional writer! I can’t wait for more.
August 26th, 2009 on 11:10 am
Fevercon?? you so have my attention!! when will we know more?
and if you can answer, do you know if you will be appearing at the Romantic Times Convention in Ohio, coming up in April 2010?
August 26th, 2009 on 11:10 am
yeah you talk about JB but you keep the real info close to your chest. Can’t wait to read this one.
August 26th, 2009 on 11:09 am
First of all I **GASP** at the people that actually have ANY of your books on their TBR shelf. I count the days til the next one is available and it gets opened the minute I get it. I actually put down JR Ward’s LOVER AVENGED in the middle so I could read Dreamfever.
Here’s a crazy question Karen….is Karen Marie Moning your real name or the name you use to author books?
August 26th, 2009 on 11:09 am
Count me in! Great blog!
August 26th, 2009 on 11:04 am
Karen,
I just wanted to say that your books are what made me realize my love of literature! I always knew I liked to read but now I love it, your books inspire me to write my own stories.
Thank you!
Katie
August 26th, 2009 on 10:57 am
I am very excited for DreamFever, and cannot wait for ShadowFever either! Love your work!
August 26th, 2009 on 10:57 am
Hi Karen-
For starters, I absolutely love the Fever series. Your characters are totally engaging and, yes, have a heart-warming way about them. Adam Black’s story was one of the first books I read by you and I worked backwards in the Highlander series. I was hooked, line and sinker. When the Fever series started, I couldn’t talk enough about it and some friends are as into it as I.
On a side note, I’d just like to say how much I’ve been inspired by your work
Kara
August 26th, 2009 on 10:51 am
Oh, sorry Karen! I got confused.
I’ll be the one moaning when I research Barrons. WITH him. Gaw. No chaperones. I can handle that dude!
Slaps self on the head.
August 26th, 2009 on 10:48 am
I love, love, love all of your books!!! I need to get my hands on the newest still
August 26th, 2009 on 10:44 am
In re the next series, I noticed a few of you have asked if it came to me as fully formed as this series. The answer is “I think so” but I can’t give a more fleshed out answer because I don’t dare let it into my head right now. I have to keep it at bay, so it doesn’t usurp what I’m writing now.
August 26th, 2009 on 10:43 am
ROTFLMFAO!!!!
V’lane has noting to worry about! I would never fixate on Lor. I was just being a wee bit nosy hehe.
August 26th, 2009 on 10:40 am
Oh, no, now are you fixated on Lor, VP? V’lane is going to be so pissed!
August 26th, 2009 on 10:39 am
Hi Karen,
Love the Fever series - haven’t gotten a chance to read Dreamfever yet but it’s next on my list
Can’t wait to clear some time from my busy schedule to do just that!
August 26th, 2009 on 10:39 am
Hi Jordy, and all of you who came to the signing! It was so awesome to see you guys It always feels like a party when we get together that I never want to end. Wait till you see what we have in store for you at FeverCon! Leiha will have all the details soon…. And thanks Jayzee for helping out so much, you were the best!
What surprised me most about Dreamfever? Honestly that it gushed out the way it did. Each day that I walked downstairs (to my very dark cave in which I write when I’m in Georgia)it felt effortless. The hardest part was kicking Dani out of my head when it was time. That kid is tenacious!
August 26th, 2009 on 10:38 am
And I am trying to figure out how to work this thing. I posted before I was done. LOL Hi Karen! *hugs*
August 26th, 2009 on 10:35 am
So I have a non-V’lane-related question today (I know, right? GASP!!!)
Is Lor the dude that Dani noticed with the long white hair?
August 26th, 2009 on 10:32 am
Karen,
Thanks for such an awesome series and thanks for Neil too
I love Bloodrush.
For my question… hmmm I know you will give me no answers I want so… What surprised you most about DreamFever?
August 26th, 2009 on 10:29 am
Thanks for the interview…love the series, hate the cliffhangers at the end of the last 2 books. Can’t wait for the next one.
August 26th, 2009 on 10:24 am
Karen! It was so great to see you again on Saturday, and what a treat to hear Neil play! You guys are amazing! It was SUCH a blast!!!
I just had a quick question…you said how the Fever Series came to you fully formed, and I was just wondering if the same thing happened with the following series or if it came to you as you were writing? Thanks so much! xoxox Love ya!!!
August 26th, 2009 on 10:22 am
Great interview. Haven’t read this one yet, but can’t wait.
Linda Henderson
August 26th, 2009 on 10:16 am
LMAO!!!! Jo - nailing him with her……research!!!!
Karen, I think this was the best Fever book yet! Complex and exciting — the story really moved and I loved it!!
Will you come on our Moning Clan podcast sometime?
We love you!
August 26th, 2009 on 10:12 am
Karen,
I love your books! I started reading the Fever series and now I’m hooked. Can’t wait for the next book. What a cliffhanger! Starting the Highlander series next.
August 26th, 2009 on 10:11 am
Hi Karen!
I loved your Highlander-series and I’m totally addicted on the Fever-books. I’m currently rereading Faefever to figure all aspects of your world out and can’t wait for Dreamfever!
Wish you all the best!
Ina
August 26th, 2009 on 10:07 am
Thanks Karen! (notice there was no answer on possible POVs for those though)
Possibility of seeing Adam? YAY!
Can I be the chaperone when/if Jo meets JZB? I promise she won’t get near him…
August 26th, 2009 on 9:56 am
Hi Karen!
I love all of your books. I of course eat em up as fast as I get them.
I would love to see more of Ryodan. Is he going to get his own book?
August 26th, 2009 on 9:56 am
Thanks for answering my question Karen. I wanted to ask it Saturday, but I got a little tongue-tied.
And AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH …even with these questions and answers you got tricky
One says we assume that there’s a hero …and then in the other you say the hero is a “get totally naked male” *sigh*
I’m never going to have my AH HA moment
August 26th, 2009 on 9:54 am
Hi Jo! I am NOT moaning, LOL. Moning rhymes with awning. Will you meet Barrons? Hmmm….If so, I think we will definitely need a chaperone. Otherwise you’d have him up against a wall, nailing him with all your….er, research.
August 26th, 2009 on 9:53 am
I think it is interesting that you have the fae be dark. Most authors either leave them on the fence between dark and light, or place them on the light side.
August 26th, 2009 on 9:45 am
I loved the Study Series, too.
*cool*
August 26th, 2009 on 9:42 am
I finally have the first 2 books in this series that everyone is talking about. I love Karen’s sexy Scottish romances and would love to read this one and see what the hype is all about.
August 26th, 2009 on 9:42 am
Dare I ask for a book about V’lane be written, too?
I can’t figure out who is on whose side. Barrons is such a bad boy - is he related to Adam Black??
August 26th, 2009 on 9:40 am
Hi Karen,
So glad to see you’re still not answering all our questions. Can’t wait for ShadowFever!
August 26th, 2009 on 9:40 am
Karen,
Love all your books, and the audio for the highlander books just rocks!! Keep up the great work. Hope to see much more from you in the future. Can’t stop reading your books!!!
August 26th, 2009 on 9:37 am
Karen, I just got Linda Howard’s ‘Burn’ on audio. Can’t wait to start listening!
August 26th, 2009 on 9:34 am
Hi Karen,
I am without a doubt a moning maniac and am waiting patiently for shadowfever(lie). I was just wondering if you were starting, middle or almost done writing the book yet. No hurry, just fiending for it.
August 26th, 2009 on 9:32 am
Hi Karen,
August 26th, 2009 on 9:31 am
Books I have read recently and loved: Maria V Snyder’s Poison Study, Fire Study and Magic Study, the latest Dean Koontz: Relentless, The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene, Burn by Linda Howard (who am I kidding? anything by Linda Howard) Fires of Eden by Dan Simmons and his Hyperion series, Songs of Earth and Power by Greg Bear (which includes The Infinity Concerto and The Serpent Mage) and I just bought Shadows of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón (who I’ve not read yet but was compared to Jorge Luis Borges and quoted by Steve King) and Sea Glass by Snyder. I also love Charlaine Harris, and Gena Showalter and PC Cast are terrific fun. Robin McKinley’s Sunshine is one of my all time faves. I’d like to start a personal campaign to get her to turn it into a series. Also loved The Thirteenth Tale.
August 26th, 2009 on 9:27 am
Hi Karen,
I just found your books recently, after Amazon offered Darkfever as a free Kindle download. You know “The first ones free…”. I am now fully addicted to the Fever series, and hope they next installment is also available on Kindle.
While waiting for Shadowfever, I am reading the Highlander series. It is my first foray into romances and I am quite enjoying them.
Thanks for so many good reads!
August 26th, 2009 on 9:27 am
Not sure if you’ll answer this but is it significant that Nana called Mac, Alina instead of Mac? If it’s not significant, I can stop my brain from running wild with theories.
August 26th, 2009 on 9:26 am
I *still* wanna know if some of what happens in DreamFever is just a dream!!! LOL But, I’m guessing you still won’t answer Lina’s and my questions about that here, either, right? *wink*
We love you anyway!! At least you smile when you torture us without answers!!! Hurry up and finish ShadowFever!!!!
Sorry you won’t be back to Cincinnati in October but it was great to meet you last weekend!!! You and your hubby are very talented and so generous with your time! It was fun!!!!
Hugs!!!

August 26th, 2009 on 9:25 am
Hi Karen,
I’ve been a huge fan of your work since the Highlanders (whom I’m still oh so crazy about!). I’m really excited for Shadowfever, and to see what you have in store for us after the end of this series
August 26th, 2009 on 9:22 am
HI KAREN,
Hi Sue,
Nnnnnice to meet a fellow fan that pronounces Karen’s name the same way I do! :0}
Ummm. Karen?! (Batting eyes here)
Am I going to actually meet Jericho?!
It will be just between us…LOL.
Loved reading your interview!
Awesome. Outstanding. Phenomenal.
You and Dreamfever.
August 26th, 2009 on 9:20 am
Can’t wait to read the next one and finally get all the answers!
August 26th, 2009 on 9:19 am
I loved Dreamfever! This has been the best yet. I can’t wait for Shadowfever!
I really hope there is a Hero in this series and that hero gets to be our Barrons, even when, what I love about this series is that Mac is slowly evolving into being her own savour.
August 26th, 2009 on 9:19 am
I have loved every single book you’ve written. I can’t wait for ShadowFever & I’m also sad that it will be the last one of the Fever series. But i’m sure that I’ll love whatever you write after!
August 26th, 2009 on 9:18 am
Hi Karen I’ve been a fan since the very beginning of the Highlander series, which makes me one of the Fever sufferers. That year-long wait is always so painful.
Just wondering if there were Fever characters in your mind that didn’t make the cut at all (i.e. did Mac and Alina have a brother)?
August 26th, 2009 on 9:14 am
I am not a huge romance fan these days. I sort of burnt out on it years ago. I love how you give romance a dark and suspenseful twist. I hate you a little for writing books I can’t get out of my head. The wait for the next one is always torture :).
August 26th, 2009 on 9:13 am
Karen,
I just read you post about Adam, one of my all-time favorite heroes *squee* I can’t wait to hear from him and Gabby. Thanks so much for sharing that with us.
I am worried about the Keltars. Are their wards still holding up since the walls are down? I know I am asking a lot of questions, but I missed the books signing *poor me*. I won’t miss another one!!
And Sue, you are so right about Karen’s writing. I think Karen Marie Moning out-writes every other romance writer……
And I am enjoying the edgy, urban-fantasy atmosphere of the fever series.
August 26th, 2009 on 9:09 am
I too would love to know what your favorite books are. Anything great that you are reading now? Or do you just need a break from writing and reading for a while!!
August 26th, 2009 on 9:09 am
Hi Karen!
It was wonderful to meet saturday. I’ve been a big fan for years. You truly have a gift for writing. The friends I’ve gotten to read your books say they love how you write so fresh and comtemporary. I’m like I know she’s awesome. Almost had a Dani moment. LOL Anyway a question I wanted to ask you is. What made you start writing about the Fae? In all your books you’ve had some variable of a Fae (Adam) in your stories, besides the Fever series. I love your twist on them. They’re scary and sexy all at the same time.
Keep doing what your doing. Dreamfever was an unbelievable thrill ride. I can’t wait to see what Shadowfever will bring us. Take care of yourself.

Great guest blog! So so excited to read this book, although I have to wait until our local library gets it AND I get through the waiting list to read it. Really excited!
August 26th, 2009 on 9:08 am

Also the cd is still blaring form my car, windows down volume up!! I can’t get enough of BLOODRUSH or Dreamfever. We love you and and all that you give us! Krissy

Morn Karen…thanx 4 taking the time from ur busy schedule 2 do this gr8 interview. I got intro 2 ur Fever series by my older sis who is a long time follower of ur wonderful bks. My 1st impression of DF(DarkFever) was a mix btween Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Nancy Drew. *LOL* The more I read, the more the story bcame intriguing & simply couldn’t put the bk down. While patiently waiting…which wasn’t easy… 4 ur next release, BF(BloodFever), I finally read all of ur Highlander bks. I finally understood y my sis was constantly nagging me 2 read that series…DAMN! Ur men were not only dark & dangerous but sinfully delich…I literally devoured Adam Black’s bk. *fanning myself* Now he is deft’ly my kind of man! I’m so happy 2 c him mentioned in DF(DreamFever). I was very fortunate 2 have received my pre-order copy of ur l8test release 1 wk b4 the due date. It was a fan-FREAKIN-tastic read. SOOOO looking 4ward 2 SF(ShadowFever). I no that all the q’s I have 4 u will end up w/ a ‘Keep Reading’ answer. So, instead of asking q’s, I simply wanted 2 say, Thank u so much 4 creating such a wonderful world & 4 taking us along on this amazing journey w/ u. Bisou!

Have to agree with Cheryl A here:
‘Have loved all your books. Read them as soon as they come out, then have to wait for the next one!
You are a great writer. Thanks for all the great stories!’
For those of you who have not read Karen’s books you have to give her a try for her writing voice alone. Karen’s description & detail of the story is one of the best, contained & never wordy — very tight stories.
Readers who like Christine Feehan or Sherrilyn Kenyon would love the Fever series.
August 26th, 2009 on 9:01 am
*sigh* I KNOW that any questions I would think to ask will not be answered, as they would involve major spoilers, so I won’t even try, LOL. Thanks to your HL series, the ‘Box o’ Smut’ in our office was born, eventually evolving into a bookcase in my boss’ office (thanks for that!). I was enamoured enough with your writing to stick with you as you transitioned to the Fever world. As I suspected, you did not disappoint! It will seem like an endless wait for Shadowfever, but I know you’ll make it worth it!:D
August 26th, 2009 on 9:00 am
Hello Karen,
I’m loving the Fever series and so very happy that even after SHADOWFEVER there will be more stories from the Fever World.
Do you plan on the next series being PNR or UF? Thanks for taking the time to answer questions.
August 26th, 2009 on 9:00 am
I have often wondered what your favorite authors are and how much, if at all, that they have influenced your work?
August 26th, 2009 on 8:59 am
Karen,
Since you’ve hinted at perhaps multiple heroes *I like things that come in multiples* is there ANY POSSIBLE WAY that His Hotness The Lord Master can be redeemed at this point and be a hero?
And my second question is this: PLEASE could you consider a small little novella where you write Darkfever (I’ll settle for just one of the books) from entirely Barrons’ point of view???? Your Maniacs would devour it!!!
Thanks!
Jill
August 26th, 2009 on 8:55 am
Hi, I love all of your books Karen. I loved Dreamfever even though I’s driving me crazy about the end. I just hope you don’t kill off the main characters. I know one or two will probably go. I would like to know if some of you earlier highlander books are coming back with the fever books? Example like maybe To Tame a Highlander?
August 26th, 2009 on 8:46 am
Hi Karen
I have became an addict of your work. I read the entire fever series in one week. This including dreamfever. I would like to understand why so much hate between Barrons and V’lane. Also is the beast some one from Mac past or present ? I do not think it is the Barrons because there a part in dreamfever that puts both the Barrons and the beast in the same scene. Karen when will you be posting another few chapters from The Lady Lies.Cann’t wait to see what happens!!!!!!!!!! Please put an end to my suffering and bring our shadowfever sooner than later.
Thanks
Baljinder
August 26th, 2009 on 8:44 am
Jayzee–great question! I suspect writing the last pages of Shadowfever will be both painful and exhilarating. The world and characters are so real in my head that I doubt I’ll ever really be without them. But I’m also looking forward to what comes next tremendously!
August 26th, 2009 on 8:42 am
The cast of the characters for the next series I have planned DOES overlap. Course that depends on who survives…:)
The idea for the next series also “shunted” into my brain, but it will be a little different than the series I’m wrapping up with Shadowfever.
As for Adam Black–I’m not certain if he’ll show up in Shadowfever or not. He’s in some scenes and not in others, and I haven’t decided what will ultimately make it into the final cut. But a little behind the scenes info on what’s currently happening in Keltarland–Gabby is watching out for the Keltars, for the Fae they can’t see, so Adam IS around.
August 26th, 2009 on 8:41 am
Karen,
I just want to say thank you for a wonderful reading experience, with both the Highlanders and the Fever series. I am absolutely hooked on Fever and will wait patiently until the Shadowfever is released.
Just one question:
I was wondering what you are feeling now that the ending of Mac’s series is so close? Is there a sadness to be moving away from her story or an excitement to be looking foward to the rest of the Fever world.
Thanks,
Jenn
August 26th, 2009 on 8:41 am
Hi Karen!
I have to say I have read (devoured, really) your highlander series. Adam Black is in my top 3 heroes of all time! I simply am mad crazy about him!
I have the first 2 fever books in my TBR pile, but I hate waiting between books so I keep putting them off. It would simply drive me nuts having to wait between books, especially since I hear they are just as addicting as your Highland novels.
August 26th, 2009 on 8:41 am
Have loved all your books. Read them as soon as they come out, then have to wait for the next one!
You are a great writer. Thanks for all the great stories!
August 26th, 2009 on 8:39 am
I couldn’t help it. I had to stop and tell you how much I enjoy your books. I have currently read everything you have ever published. I am an avid reader and have been much of my life. As such, it is extremely difficult for me to find a book that pulls me in as completely as your Fever and Highlander books have. Your characters and settings are absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for the hours of pure joy that you have given me through your art. I look forward to seeing what the future holds.
August 26th, 2009 on 8:35 am
Jill–nice try! A fascinating question…LOL. I got asked this a lot at my booksigning, too.
Debbie D: Yes–I definitely have a few novellas in mind. Just need to finish Shadowfever first. The whole Fever world is so real to me that I think I could write about different parts of it for a looooong time.
I’m so sorry but we don’t have a release date for Shadowfever yet. It’s so important to me that I capture the vision I’ve had since the beginning. I’ll update you all the moment we know when it will be published. I can’t hurry this one! A certain character who shall remained un-named won’t let me, LOL.
August 26th, 2009 on 8:26 am
I really CANNOT wait for Shadowfever. I’ve been tethering on hooks for years now… and that just shows how much of a great writer Ms. Moning is… Can’t wait!
August 26th, 2009 on 8:25 am
I LOVE your books. Haven’t read the fever series yet but it seems like i’ve been missing out. How nice to have a soundtrack accompanying your book. More to enjoy than just the fond memmories of a good read. I love The Highlander’s series its one of my favorite series ever. The first one I read was with Adam and how can you not but fall in love with a guy like that. The other books where also very nice but The Immortal highlander is still my favorite. Are you going to write another one soon? I would really look forward to that.
August 26th, 2009 on 8:24 am
Great interview. I love the Fever series. The Highlander series is great too. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
August 26th, 2009 on 8:22 am
oh wow all i can say is i’m a very devoted fan i can hardly wait to read the next installment i’ve even put off ready dreamfever by well one having to wait til it came out and i had the money handy to purchase it then by rereading all of the previous fever books just to put off reading Dreamfever but now i’m on Faefever and on chapter 14 again so i know it’s only a matter of time before i pick up the next one an i’ll inevitably start all over again with the highlander series just to wait for the next one of your books any of your books really it’s actually to the point where i think my husband looks at me like i’m a junky getting my fix sometimes but it’s all good i got him hooked on reading the star wars books lol so he can’t gripe too much i love your work Karen and can’t wait for the next book to come pouring from you to get my husband to by for me
August 26th, 2009 on 8:21 am
Hi,
I love the Highlander series but I am completely impressed with your writing on the Fever series. Was it a learning curve or did you write to the genre?
Thanks!
Rebecca
August 26th, 2009 on 8:19 am
I started with your Highlander series (Daegus was my first and will always be my favorite!) but I love, love, looove the Fever series. I read Dreamfever in one day - couldn’t put it down so now I’m dying for the final installment. Any idea when Shadowfever will be published? Please say it won’t be another year!
Also, will we ever find out what Barrons is?
August 26th, 2009 on 8:11 am
Thank you so very much for this book. Dreamfever is so far my favorite of the series. I agree 100%, I felt this book very deeply and it DID have a lot of heart. Love me some Christian MacKeltar! Cannot WAIT to see what comes next.
August 26th, 2009 on 8:08 am
Thank you so much for two amazing series! I am so excited that you have your next series all thought up- and hoping that it’s a blend of highlander and fever! Best wishes and thanks again!!
August 26th, 2009 on 8:04 am
Although cliffhangers make me want to hunt an author down and pinch her *glares*, I gotta read the book because the series is so GOOD! It’s FOREVER till pay day so I’m entering!
August 26th, 2009 on 8:02 am
I already finished the last book…….can’t you just tell us who the beast is instead of making us wait a year…
August 26th, 2009 on 8:02 am
Karen, love all of your books - keep them coming. Maybe you can come up with a “methadone” list of books from other authors we can read while we are waiting for our next Moning fix!
August 26th, 2009 on 7:58 am
I absolutely LOVE this series! I can’t wait for more and Karen is an amazing writer! I can’t wait until she comes to visit closer to Nashville! =) love you karen and leiha!=)

I love your writing, and I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. SOOOO glad you’re not leaving this world for a little while!
August 26th, 2009 on 7:52 am
I’m sure you must enjoy writing these fantastic reads as much as we love reading them! I became hooked on the highlanders as have all my girlfriends since I passed the torch for your writing. Best Wishes and I anticipate the next curl-up with my glass of wine and your newest endeavors! xoxo Teresa
August 26th, 2009 on 7:51 am
Karen,
I read Dreamfever 3 times last week and still can’t concentrate on my homework (I’m so worried about Mac!!).
I have all your books (in multiple formats), and will always buy your books the moment they are available. You are my favorite author (and I read a LOT!).
I was wondering if Mac will break all the rules and be able to Voice Barron’s with her new found powers? I’d love for her to get some revenge/answers!!!
THANKS!!
August 26th, 2009 on 7:50 am
Karen, I can’t wait till our bookstore finally gets Dreamfever in (3-4 more weeks):( I have reread the previous novels 3 times already in aticapation of buying dreamfever. You are an awesome writer and keep up the great writing.
August 26th, 2009 on 7:50 am
Karen,
In an interview you did with Romantic Times Book Club in November 2006, it states “…the series will be broken into five separate books, with some steamy off-shoot novellas planned as well.” Do you still have any plans for a novella or two? Possibly from JZB, V’lane, or Dani’s POV? Or even Darroc’s? [Even though I can quote you on that "No freaking way, Darroc. :)"]
Thanks for a wonderful, emotional, teeth grinding reading experience.
Debbie_D
August 26th, 2009 on 7:48 am
I can’t wait to read this one. When will another Highlander book come out? Can’t get enough of those sexy Scotsmen!
August 26th, 2009 on 7:44 am
Karen, I can never get enough of your writings. You’re my favorite author, so dedicated and talented. The Highlanders are my favorite series, and Fever comes second. Thank you for sharing this wonderful world with us all readers.
August 26th, 2009 on 7:43 am
I fell in love with this series from the first book and now I can’t wait for Dreamfever and Shadowfever, so I can (hopefully =)) get some answers. Also are they’re going to be more highlander books?
August 26th, 2009 on 7:33 am
I get completely submerged in Karen’s books. She weaves the most amazing tales. She has the ability to make you feel as if you are actually there with her characters. As if you are feeling what they feel. Thank you Ms. Moning for creating this exciting & mysterious world for us to be a part of.
August 26th, 2009 on 7:22 am
I tried to think of a question that I NEED an answer to that you might actually answer (ANTICIPATION IS KILLING ME), but I couldnt think of one. So I thought I would ask a question about you! When you are not busy working on a book, what do you like to do in your free time? And who are your favorite authors?
Again, your books are awsome and completely addictive!
Lory
August 26th, 2009 on 7:19 am
Love the series wish I would have found it after you had completed it so I could have read them all right after eachother WITHOUT WAITING!!!
You have mentioned the highlanders but other than Christian are you going to tie any of them to this series with more details than a mention? Just curious! Loved them too, especially Adam Black. Thought he might make an appearance to help.
August 26th, 2009 on 7:16 am
This is a very interesting series. Can’t wait to read more.
August 26th, 2009 on 7:16 am
I love everything you have written, Karen, and cannot wait to read Dreamfever!!!! I’ve re-read all of your books because I cannot get enough!! Keep writing!!
August 26th, 2009 on 7:16 am
Karen,
I absolutely love your Fever world. Thank you for sharing it. You are truely an amazing author for having the ability to keep us so enthralled that we are already wishing this year and 1/2 of next year away just so we can get our hands on the last book. I recommend this series to everyone I know.
August 26th, 2009 on 7:16 am
I have loved the character transformation occurring through this series. The edginess and reluctant heroism make the read worthwhile. I know there are other authors who provide play lists for their books (I’m thinking of Kenyon) but congrats on taking it to the next level and coming out with an coordinating CD. Best wishes for you!
August 26th, 2009 on 7:14 am
Hello Karen!!
I started with the Fever series and loved it so much I had to devour all of your Highlander books as well. You truly are one of the most gifted writers that I have ever read. You weave such intricate story lines and plots it always leaves me as reader fulfilled and somehow wanting more! Cannot wait for Shadowfever and more of JZB & Mac. Love the magic between those two!
August 26th, 2009 on 7:10 am
Hey Karen! I just finished Dreamfever last night and am trying to think of a question that you might actually answer….my mind is spinning with several that I’m sure you won’t.
Has the next series also come to you in a complete piece (as the Fever series did)? Will the cast of characters overlap a bit?
Cheers!
Ronlyn
August 26th, 2009 on 7:09 am
Good morning, Karen! I can’t wait to get answers from you!!! I think some of us deserve them after this gritty, disturbing installment of your incredible Fever Series. I have a question *please answer it*…..I have had nightmares caused by Dreamfever, LOL. Does any part of the plot in Dreamfever take place in the Dreaming Realm (the one Barrons tells Mac about)???
Thanks, Karen! You rock (but not as much as your DH *giggles*) I am still enjoying rocking out to BloodRush everyday during carpool!!!
August 26th, 2009 on 7:08 am
Hey Karen! I love the Fever series. I am new to the addiction of reading. One of my co-workers recommended that I read your work. I started w/ the Fever series. I feel as if I can not wait for Shadowfever.I am now currently catching up on the Highlander series. Thank you so much for your world you have created and for sharing w/ your readers.
Totally a Barron’s girl!
C. Downs
August 26th, 2009 on 7:08 am
Karen,
I hated reading and my good friend Leslie told me to read the Highlander series and she bet that I would change my mind. So I took a couple of the books on a trip to Australia to read on the plane. Needless to say, I am now an avid reader and can’t get enough.
I love how you have interwoven the Highlander series and the Fever series. I absolutely love Mac and Jericho Barrons. What a cure to being Pri-ya{sigh}!
I can’t wait for ShadowFever and I know it will every bit as exciting as the rest of the series.
Also, I love the MacKelters, but one of my favorite characters is Adam Black. Will he be making an appearance in Shadowfever? After all, he did choose Darroc’s punishment to begin with.
Thanks Karen!
August 26th, 2009 on 7:06 am
Such a wonderful interview….tight lipped on the hero issue…wouldnt we all love to know! But that will have to wait! I love that you are not “leaving the Fever World” That makes me so happy! Good work and keep it up, I love your reads!
August 26th, 2009 on 7:05 am
Love your books! you are a fantastic author! Keep them coming!!!
August 26th, 2009 on 7:02 am
Great Interview!
I’ve read all of Karen’s books, both the Highlander and Fever series, and love them all (Haven’t read Dreamfever becuase I’m STILL waiting on my pre-ordered book to arrive). The way she created a world with the highlanders and then took one speck of that and twisted it into a complete new series is amazing. The links between the series have gotten stronger as the series goes on, but they are still their own entitiy. Love it!
Karen’s writing is so vivid that she really takes you into the story and creates a world you’ll want to visit time and time again! I know I do!
Thanks for the interview with Karen - her books are fantastic!
August 26th, 2009 on 7:00 am
Karen we can never get enough of Barrons! Of course we would all love a book from Barrons POV! he’s the bad boy a lot of us love!!! great interview! can’t wait till Shadowfever! and hmmm you say Mac has gone dark.. reminds me of a conversation between Mac and Barrons in dreamfever!
August 26th, 2009 on 6:57 am
Oh my I too love the scene when Mac start so come out of being Pry-ia. The entire first part of the book shed Barrons on a different light it was awesome. Thank you for writing this series its really really good.
August 26th, 2009 on 6:53 am
Oh Karen! I can’t wait to hear what you have in store after this series. I knew Ryoden HAD to have a story and as well as the sexy Christian! MMMM…..he can sunbathe nekkid on the same side of the rock as me anytime…Thanks Karen. You know I love ya!
August 26th, 2009 on 6:48 am
Totally LOVE the series and can’t wait for the next installment. Glad that your next series win continue in the Fever world. Thank you!
August 26th, 2009 on 6:47 am
This would be a new series for me, sounds good! tWarner419@aol.com
August 26th, 2009 on 6:45 am
Hey Karen and Sue,
Love that you have given us this little insight into your writing. I am a BIG fan and have been waiting for Dreamfever for what seems like forever. Will be finishing it up tonight and blogging about it tomorrow. Mac and Barrons have me on the edge, wondering if they will end up together and I’m so worried about Christian…! You get the picture…I feel like I’m right there with them and they are a part of my life. So glad to know they will be with me for some time to come. Kudos to you and your wonderful characters…we love them so!
August 26th, 2009 on 6:42 am
My first “paranormal” books were Karen’s time-traveling Scotsmen…..love them still!
Thank you for offering these up.
August 26th, 2009 on 6:38 am
Karen, I love your books, both the Highlander series and Fever series. I can’t pick just one as a favorite. It was wonderful to meet you Saturday. My mother in law and I both were so excited. I tell you it was the highlight of the year!!
I am looking forward to ShadowFever and reading more of what you have planned for the future.
August 26th, 2009 on 6:35 am
Please count me in. It’s fantastic the new authors I’ve been discovering with the release of this new blog!
August 26th, 2009 on 6:25 am
Hi Sue and Karen,
I loved the interview and have recently re-read all the Highlander novels, I love the connection it has to the Fever series while it takes the world, and new characters to greater heights!
Mac, Barrons, V’Lane, my readers world would not be the same if they were not in it!
August 26th, 2009 on 6:12 am
Thank you Karen for being with us here today. I think I fell in love with your writing with book one
MacKelter’s are definitely favorties however, the edginess of the new series is lots of fun too.
Readers have been all over the Fever series, Dreamfever included — keep up the awesome work! The cover totally Rocks as well.
All the best!
Sue
August 26th, 2009 on 5:17 am
I’m new to your Fever World! It sounds like a place I’d love to visit and to meet Jericho!!
August 26th, 2009 on 5:10 am
I love the MacKelter’s series but haven’t checked out your Fever series yet. Although I think I have Darkfever in my TBR pile somewhere.
When you mention that you have no intention of leaving the Fever World and another series will begin after it, does this mean you’re not going to return to the Highlander World again — or just yet?
August 26th, 2009 on 1:18 am
The video was awesome and it’s great that I finally find out that the last book is next up!!!
