Wizardly Women

When Lev Grossman visited Babel Clash, we discussed the most powerful wizards in modern fantasy literature. Who would win the great wizard fight?
Looking back at that conversation, the names mentioned included: Gandalf, Quentin Coldwater, Harry Potter, Raistlin Majere, Richard Rahl, Bayaz, Dr. Strange, Doctor Fate, Pug, Belgarath and Rand al’Thor. All guys.
Where are the women? Who is the paragon of magical might among female characters?

If I had to bet on a wizard in a duel, I’d take Richard Rahl from Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth series. By the end of that series, that guy wielded some crazy powerful magic. Even his official title is “War Wizard.”
By “Pillars of Creation,” he had reached that level of god-like power where the only real way to add suspense to a conflict was to contrive a plot element to take away his magic.
Also, where’s the shout-out for Raistlin Majere from Dragonlance? Wasn’t he picking fights with gods?
